Ok  just bought a  adventure bike , and love it ,   other bikes are not getting used has much ,  they include ,  a streetbob and a rocket , the streetbob ,  is my toy and the rocket i use for touring ,and  when i take the missis out,  the missis does'nt come touring with me anymore , and in future its only probably gonna be  trips on the ocean road 6-7 days at the most that she'l do .

Anyway my touring will be done on the adventure bike , , so my question is this for them that know , whats the switchback like ,  for the odd 2 up tour

I  don't want to do day trips and short tours with her on the streetbob ,  and i don't really need to keep the rocket ,so  , I keep thinking get rid of the bob and the rocket , and  the switchback ,  will do the job   strip it down for my  toy and put it back to tour and sunday rides with her , while  keeping the  adventure bike for what i do a lot of, long rides  on tracks i've never been on .And the desert stuff i've got planned .

I'm more concerned with the clearance , i've sat on one it seems comfy , the power will be there ,  afdter all same engine has the r k and a lot lighter , I will not take her on the bob because i find that  it scrapes too much 2 up  and is'nt what i would call a 2 up bike .

Imput and thoughts from them that  have been there appreciated ,, Oh by the way the road king is out ,  there nice but i cannot warrant selling  2 really good bikes  plus putting money towards   to end up with a bike not much lighter and definetly not much better than the rocket anyway .

I don't generally pillion my missus which is a good thing as she really doesn't like being pillion on my switchback.

First; with the panniers on the bike she says the panniers get in the way of getting her legs on the pegs.
Second; the pillion pegs are mounted to the swingarm not to the bike frame (which means they move up and down with the road and do NOT hit a pothole with a pillion).
Third; the pillion seat isn't really long enough for an average sized adult, really only suitable for kids or small women.

Don't get me wrong, for me I wouldn't have another bike but I do almost all of my riding one up, if I was riding 2 up on a regular basis I'd buy a Road King.

Cheers fellas , thats excatly the sort of info i'm after , pannier size was a concern , but if i get one, a backrest and luggage rack, are a must , i fill both the panniers, and a bag up on the rocket , but ALWAYS carry to much gear . The switchback travelling on my own would be ok , But i'm really getting into the adventure style bike and will probably buy the luggage system for the one i bought , and use that for solo touring , 2 up touring , she will have to cut down. (Leave the kitchen sink behind)
I would definetly put floorboards of some sort on for her , Main concerns are obviously the handling and clearance .

Dunno , its just since i got this other bike (adventure style) i've started to relize how much hard work the rocket is , and now thinking get rid of the weight . seems logical because stripped down they (switchback ) look good has well ,, personaly i think they look ALMOST not quite but almost has good has the street bob .

P.S whats the vibration issue , i've not heard of that , heard the brakes are not the best , but thats the only thing i've heard about .

You could change pillion seat and pegs easy enough
