Tim i did read somewhere that there is 50lbs of "lift" under the 2012 batwing fairing at 110kph. No wonder there is so much turbulance behind the fairing
I,d believe that Pauly , and a vent under the screen won,t do jack shit if the wind is coming from underneath fairing . Same for the blokes with clip on screens .
Tim i installed a wind deflector under the steering head. Its a gen Harley part but did fuck all, waste of $
Thanks Pauly , that item was discussed on a US Forum , with the general view as yours . The fork ones are well worth the $ though mate .
They dont vibrate, as i dont see any support at the bottom?
No vibration up to tested 120km/h ( on a closed circuit of course ) . The deflector is made of heavy gauge material and the pressing gives even more strength . You cannot flex them with your hands .They are a quality piece of kit .
They look good, what sort of $?
I paid $195- for the chrome fork deflectors + the mid frame heat deflectors ( not yet fitted ) , at Harley Heaven Adelaide .
Ta i already have the mid frame delectors and they do make a difference
Just had 8000km service and Boom upgrade done . Well nearly , they rang today that a fault code comes up with the amp lookin for 2 more speakers . They are looking for the answer , may take time . Shhh , wife is around .......
Yes , just amp and 6.5" speakers ( up from 5.25" ). Amp is 300w 4 channel , so can upgrade at later stage if I want . Little bit apprehensive of the pannier speakers as I believe I would be introducing the possibility of water leaks in otherwise 100% waterproof panniers ( tested ! ). Fairing lowers with speakers is probably the way I,d go if I wanted 4 .
Will try this upgrade first though , as my primary aim is to have music just a little bit louder , it gets a bit faint at 120km/h .
Chaser i did mine myself and had it done in under an hour on a 2012 street glide. Very simple job.
2hrs labour to fit Chaser . They are still having trouble with an error code coming up .Will be sorted next week .
hey tim have you had any of these leaking fluid issues im reading about on the US forum ?
edit : sorry tim, thought for some reasons you got an ultra mate.
You won,t regret the purchase Pauly . Melbourne must be the big warehouse , all my stuff has come from there . I had to file the blinker wire connector ( bike/loom side ) slightly to fit through the hole in deflector .
Tim did you have to pull the front "nose cone" off the batwing to get to the indicator connector or is it accessable from the outside?
Just undo the 2 acorn nuts to remove blinker assembly , the wiring connector is behind it . Then remove the studs and install deflector with them . I just needed to file the connectors a little to pass through the holes in deflector . Push the deflectors forward in their slotted holes to allow clearance for crashbars . 30 min job cause I had to get the file out . Your '12 model wire conns may be different , if they pass through holes , then 15 min job .
Ta as i dont run the crashbars either could be a quick fix indeed
Have you tried Front Fork Air Deflectors yet?
So fork air deflectors easy to fot. As I had a quick look and blinker mount is raised to cover a nut on fork covers so I gather air deflector would need to bolt unber that that nut then reinstall blinker plate?
Is this correct on 2014 Street Glide
