Heya all. So my old man and I are gonna be leaving just after the easter weekend next year, to ride to Cairns for the National HOG Rally. Reason we are leaving so early is because we wanna do a bit of sight seeing, and beat the crappy weather, and basically take our time and enjoy the ride! The plan is to ride about 12 hours a day (with some stops in between). First, all the way to Wyndham, then across to Katherine, through Alice Springs, and on to Cairns, with some sight seeing along the way.
What we would like to know, is if there is anybody who would like to do the ride with others, but don't want to be under the thumb of a HOG captain and road crew...People who just want to ride and enjoy it, drink a fair bit when the day's ride is over, and just enjoy the trip and have a great time. No rules about how or where you ride (as long as you follow our route), drinking, patches and/or other 'substances' as long as it doesn't affect the 'old ones' that are sleeping, and you can be on the road by 6am. Speed limit is always exceeded by at least 10-20 km/h when we ride - even in city limits (except when there's no speed limit), regular smoke breaks included.
Total distance is ROUGHLY 7,500 k's. It is entirely likely that we will get there very early so, plan accommodation!
If you are interested, PM me. Will need details closer to the time (for safety reasons obviously!) Hooroo! By the way: Once the route has been completely sorted, I'll post more details.
