    Hi folks

looking at doing the speedo relocation on my Iron, mainly due to wanting to put some longer risers on. I'm just interested to hear some comments from those who have done this mod. Do you have any difficulty seeing the speedo?  Is it practical in respect to ease of view?

I have the joker machine one, It fits and looks nice, no issues with view either. I also got the top clamp to keep the warning lights where they are easy to see. I'm not fond of using a gauge clamp, I looks a little rough and pulls the speedo in too far for my liking.

What do you mean a gauge clamp? Isn't that what the Joker Machine part is?

I relocated my speedo down by the battery box (left hand side on a '92)

Not that easy to see, so I didn't bother looking at it.......

Mind you, Sporty's been off the road for a while now but all the same, don't remember it as being a problem. :)

I used an auto meter clamp, http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/atm-3209/overview/

    Because:
    1, It isn't stupidly priced.
2, It is tucked in closer to the bike
    3, I prefer the look.

I run the JM bar clamp with the warning lights. http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/indicator-light-handlebar-clamp-black-harley-davidson-xl-sportster-models-95-and-newer/part/JOKER-10-306B

Never really have a problem seeing the speedo until its 180km/h or above.
It took all of 10 mins to get used to the new location.

I seen this once looked at all other brackets and thought that they were over priced & or stood out like a sore thumb.

    Cheers

I'm looking at getting the Joker Machine Speedo Ring w/ Swivel Clamp - 39mm with the Joker Machine Indicator Handlebar Clamp, after reading reviews I think it's the best option, but would like your opinions on it. Is there an Aussie supplier for Joker Machine products or is it best to get it shipped from the states?

    Thanks for your replies guys.

Is the relocation a straight forward home job?

    Hey mate,

I just put this post up today if you're interested in doing a little bit of a home job on the handle bar top clamp, rather than paying $100 for a joker machine one. You can use your stock standard top clamp, just have to get a hold of an angle grinder and some selleys putty. Pretty easy to do DIY job if you are interested :)

Just a note to all. Seems as though they've changed the speedo housing for the 2014 models. I know as I'm going through this now haha. It doesn't fit the Autometer clamp anymore. It's too large.

I've had to MacGyver it in.

Also, there is not enough wire slack in the 2014 models for the speedo. Seems they've left less. I did this on my 2012 Iron with no issues at all, and slack left. Again, I've had to cut the wires and solder on extensions to get it to work.

    PITA.

On the 2014s, the speedo has a complete housing to it. Surrounds the entire thing. It's like a cup, not just a backing as it was on previous years.

The wiring has enough slack to maybe relocate to the front fork, but not the tank bolt as I did. Had to add about half a foot to get it there. So I spent most of my day soldering haha.
