Windows 7 is the only operating system I recommend to people that aren't "into computers." Windows 8 is okay when you get to know it, but the "best of it" is already in Win7 imo.

Win 7 is good, Allde, worth the upgrade I'd say.

I think Win 8 is really designed for touch screen computing....you know....looking at movies and pictures and stuff...

Win7 is just a WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY better version of Win XP., while Win8 is vomit - change for the sake of change

Go a mac, no virus's, no malware, no slow downs etc, I got a Mac mini 12 months ago and could not be happier!

The problem for me with a Mac is I can't upgrade my graphics card, add RAM, add in other cards etc., etc.

They are a lot better now that they've finally realised the benefits of using intel processors though!! ;)

Download the 8.1 update and some of the familiarity you are used to is sort of back and will make it much easier to navigate. The best thing about Win 8 is how few resources it uses. If you stick it on a Vista machine it will work waaaaaay batter!

Windows 7 works just fine. I'll recommend OSX the day after I tell all kids that consoles are better for gaming, pinks a good color on boys and everyone should ride Hondas.

There are several good addins (freeware) for Win 8 that convert it to the Windows 7 look and feel.

Try using google to track some down as that what i did with our Win8 machine.
