    Hi All,

after pulling down the rear eng mounts tight I now have gaps on the front mounts of  3 thou and 7 thou.

is the gap significant enough to need shimming  ? and what would the maximum gap that would be

    allowable ?

    cheers Wally

Shimming of motor mounts and related vibration problems were discussed on this American site. Well worth a read of the first post.

Thanks for that Xopher, that seemed to be referring to the rubber mounted models,

my unit is solid mounted motor .

Thanks anyway I'll keep looking .

I have only tightened the rear mounts Dazza ,

the front mounts have that difference in them i dont know why ! before  I pull them down (which i havent done yet )

I thought that was the reason for shimming them was to even everything up ,so as not to have any mounting point more stressed than another or attempting to twist cases.

Iwas wondering how much of a gap was acceptable without needing a shim .

    bugga, should have added,

do you think it would be ok to just pull all four bolts down evenly with out trying to shim it,it,s only .008" after all.

    G'day Oz,

I was tempted to leave it as it is, but now after reading your post I'll purchase some shimstock at first

opportunity . Cut up twenty litre tins are more than .008"

    thanks for taking the time.

    Wally.
