Missus got got me a set of braides lines for my birthday. Brakes, Clutch, throttle and Idle. Thought I would share the experience.
First up was the Clutch cable, all went smoothly, the service manual was a big help. Just took the cover off and had the oil fall into a container and when finished just poured it back in.
Next up were the brakes. Installation was easy and straightforward but bleeding dry lines on an ABS bike was a real ass wipe, took me ages.
The throttle and idle cabbles should have been easy but they gave me uber grief. I couldn't disconnect the fucking crossover line, what a fucking assehole design so had to do the whole thing with the tank on the bike with the kids threading the cables through the bable guides. Thank god they had little hands. Put the whole thing together and fuck me it all works! The dealers wanted $500 to fit them, I thought, no way! Took my time and did it. Some of the things you learn are, some of the routing of lines is retarded, the serivce manual is invaluable and if you are still not sure ,Youtube is a godsend. Type in what you are trying to do and watch the video, awesome!
So I have a late model service manual for 2011 Softails. So if you need something drop me a line and Im happy to scan and send. the models should be basically the same since 2009-onwards. BTW, the lines lookgreat. Next project is to route the switch gear cables through the bars.
