Hi, I own the 2013 Streetbob and have a mixed view with this. I took my bike to a Harley dealer and they put a relocation kit on plus set up for a detachable sissy bar as I wanted........

I wasnt told the wiring for the indicators would be zip tied onto the outside of both indicators... This to me was totally unacceptable.

I phoned Harley Aussie..... my bike was put back to the original look.

NOW I am wondering how I can set the Streetbob up for touring. I dont want saddle bags.....

Is it possible to change the indicators for a different type and place in a different location and put on plates and a sisy bar detachable ?

I would keep the single seat and put a pad on the back to take the carry bag set up for touring.

can anyone help with ideas pls........... is it possible ?

    thanks.

The indicators on the 2013 Streetbob are LED the tail has a light for the Number plate only.

I like to travel to thePhillip Island and no dont take my hair dryer just looking for a safe touring system.

I am prepered to put a tail light on and new rear guard if necessary.

But then the wiring harness may need changes...... Any advise would be great.

Even a H.D location in Qld which may be able to help....thanks a lot Guys.

The Superglide has different blinker " stalks " fitted to take the detachable plate . No visible wires .

I have a fatboy that I can setup for touring very quickly. Rather than stuff around with relocating the rear signals, I replaced them altogether with alloy art led flashers that integrate on the end of the fender strut. Google or eBay search for alloy art. To increase signal visibility I also changed my rear light to a kuryakyn type that uses LEDs and integrates signaling into the rear light also.

You end up having indicators without indicators

How much gear do you want to carry?

Last time I toured on my SB I strapped a bed roll and a 20L bag on top of the headlight.

For my next trip i'm going with one of these http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/704/Custom-Roll-Bag

    Hi,

The wire from the turn signal needs to be cut, feed thru relocation stalk and then spliced and crimped back together and connected back to main wiring

Sounds as though they couldnt be stuffed doing it and try one on you. The instruction sheet pretty clear

Plenty people running the detacahable sissy bars, i am interested to do one myself, have used duffle bag on seat but it is a pain sometimes

    Thanks

Hi. I would like to see some pics pls

. 2013 Streetbob has LED indicators and NO taillight and feel this could be the problem.

I am prepared to change the type of indicator and even put a mudguard and tail light on.... but that would depend on the wiring harrness.

    Can you advise pls.?

    Lizzie.

Would the sissy bar from a 2013 Wide Glide fit straight onto a 2013 Street Bob? Or will there be need to relocate indicators aswell?

    Hi,

If you have no centre light (street bob 2013 up i think) you will have to unplug wires at main harness, feed it thru sissy bar and re-assemble

    Thanks

    Gidday members
I know this thread is nearly a year old but i have just bought a 2014 streetbob and i am curious if anyone has resolved this issue. I can see by uncle ho,s pictures that superglides and streetbobs would use the same docking hardware to attach quick release sissy bars both having to feed the wiring back through the bolt that holds the indicator on but superglides and earlier model streetbobs dont have led lights. That seems to be the problem ! The instructions tell you to open up the indicator and feed the wire back through the hole where the indicator stalk goes but led lights are sealed so how do i open the indicator to relocate the wire. Why are led lights sealed are they airtight watertight or something else. Can i open them and then reseal them without causing damage. Sportsters have had led lights for years so someone must have opened one or repaired one by now. Any ideas ?

    Thanks Potluk

On my 08 Superglide i installed a layback licence plate bracket which had a spot to install the indicators onto. The wiring was run through the fender with the tail-light waires and the sides were free for my detachable saddlebags.
Normal dail running for me was solo seat and clean look. the for the big trips dul seat, detachable sissy bar and detachable bags and ready to tour.

    neat too.

I have a new 2015 street bob , and in the attempt to install a sissy bar have come into some troubles.. sliced a wire to left rear indicator and now need to rewire, but sealed unit leds are a real problem .. and guard seems to have sat left , so now cannot get bolt to grip on right side to pull indicator together.. what a fuck up of an idea , what were HD thinking of when they designed this crap ? have a cum along and soft strops ready to lift arse off the ground , and front wheel bike stand to get it upright .. any positive comments on how to proceed would be great ..TED

you have to follow wires back to battery/main harness area and unplug there

gidday Ted         you havent said if you are installing detatchable or non detatchable side plates because the way of fixing them are different. non detatchable should be easy you dont need any other hardware or to cut wiring because there is a slot in the hole where the wire goes through only thing you might have to do is file the slot slightly bigger to take the four wires of the led. a lot of people are saying you simply open the indicator and feed the wires back through the body of the indicator but you cannot do this with led indicators they are a sealed unit.if you are using detatchables it is harder you will need a kit and you will have to cut and rejoin your wires. the wires will come out of the holes in the frame if you turn the connector the right way and it might be possible for them to go back in without cutting but i am not sure about that because i cut mine before i thought to try it. anyway i cut the wires about three inches before the connector under the seat ( disconnect first ) there is a little bit of extra in that area so easy to join. i ran the wires back through the holes that they come out of with a little bit of black shrinky stuff over the wiring that was exposed to tidy it up. you cannot cable tie the wires to your docking hardware the sissy bar will not clamp around your wires so before you pull your wiring tight make sure you can get your sissy bar on properly without damaging the exposed wiring. i am still looking for options to tidy mine up as it looks like crap but i havent found a way yet. if your guard is sitting wrong try loosening the bolts on one side first and make sure that you have got the lug from inside the guard on the bolt closest to your shocker inserted through the guard properly if it isnt in properly it wont locate your guard in the right place. hope some of this helps cheers potluk

yes it is but even if the hole in the stalk could take four wires you cant take an led light apart to re -route the wiring through the stalk
