Scorred a pair of origonal early shovel hard paniers, fiberglass, but one unit has the lock assy missing, any leads or info on where I can get one ?? Thanks
Mate, your timing is out by a week. Had a couple that I have passed on. I got 4 sets brand new through the local harley dealer. Front up to them, tell them is for panhead/Shovelhead bags and get them to pull out the parts book. Identify them and have them order them in for you. From memory, it cost me about $80.00 for four sets and wait time was only a week.
Cheers
Thanks for the info. Another question for you all, early shovel pannier brackets are different to late shovel? The panniers I have had only one bracket so I fabricated a new right hand side one as a mirror image of the left, when test fitting them to my 77 FLH I noticed two things. The mounting holes for the brackets only lined up with the counter sunk fender strut bolts while still allowing clearence for the pannier, I assumed the second set of threaded holes in the fender strut would be the ones to use as removing the counter sunk ones to mount the brackets didn,t make sence ??
My next problem is the right hand bracket will not clear the disc calliper unless I make some 25mm spacers.??
I am starting to think that the early genny shovel pannier brackets fit closer to the bike on the right side as the juice brake gives you heaps of clearence.
Any education appreciated.
From what your saying I suspect these panniers are for pan/genny shovel with juice brake rear end. Looks loke I will be putting this lot on the market as I don,t want to butcher anything just to make them fit. Thanks for the info.
See attached pics. No major cracks, holes are from a set of brake lights that I removed but will throw them in. All brackets are excellent, just missing one lock assy as you can see in the pics.
Ty
Bob, $300 for the lot, you organise freight and I will pack and deliver to freight company or post office.Box would be 500mm wide , 600mm long and 500mm deep and weigh about 16kg.
