How is it that people are allowed to walk - not only on roads but on FOOTPATHS too? Do you know how many people DIE when walking each year - AND MANY COMMIT CRIMES! Very few motor car regulations apply to people walking and they DON'T EVEN HAVE TO WEAR HELMETS OR SEATBELTS!!!! Police all over the world could destroy ALL CRIME by outlawing ALL MOVEMENT of ANY KIND!

    Yours sincerely
A bigger fucktard than Jason Miller of Wank End.

Nothing good will come of this, all it will do is either drive the 1%er's underground or actual confrontation. while the casual rider who is joe blow just wants to enjoy his bike is getting pounded like a $2 hooker by cops

Out of 1303 road fatalities in 2012, 224 involved a motorcyclist and/or pillion. That's only 17% of all fatalities. If Mr Miller wants to do the right thing, he should look after the other 83% of the public as well and ban cars, buses and trucks (unless he's saying they're less important?)

the guys a dick, but the real culprit is the paper for giving it a spot in their print. Thats just cashing in on the flavour of the month....Its not news (like almost everything else these days) and does not belong in a news paper - he should have just put it on his twitter/blog where his dick mates could read it and "like" it

Anyway... here is some statistics following the recent air disaster in Laos

Despite the fact that air disasters happen from time to time, travelling by plane remains the safest form of travel.

“If we compare the number of accidents that occur in the air with those that happen on land, air disasters are very infrequent, and with smaller numbers of deaths, despite the fact that aircraft cover much greater distances than automobiles,” he said.

According to British tabloid the Daily Mail, 125 deaths occur in one billion miles of travel by motorcycle, which in more developed countries accounts for 1 percent of road traffic, but up to 20 percent of road fatalities.

Ferry travel resulted in 20 deaths per billion miles on average. Ferries are recognised as the least safe mode of public transportation.

In the case of automobiles, four deaths were recorded for every billion miles driven.

In metric figures compiled by The Economist, 1,239 people were killed in over 2,300 railway accidents in the European Union in 2011. The worldwide fatality rate for trains is 0.4 for every one billion passenger kilometres.

Despite the fact that there were difficulties defining the safety of buses as a mode of transportation, a 2010 report by the International Association of Oil and Gas Producers found that the worldwide rate of bus passenger deaths was the same as for cars – four per billion kilometres travelled.

For planes meanwhile, there are 0.5 deaths per billion kilometres travelled. In 2012, 23 deadly crashes and 475 fatalities were reported worldwide.

After riding large capacity motor cycles for 50yrs now and still alive I think it is high time that motorcycles should be banned from our roads. Yep, all over red rover, But just before they take this action they better stop and think of the smoking related deaths and they haven't banned smoking, I wonder why!
Motorcycles and riding account for a huge input to the govt coffers, The motorcycle industry generates employment, We buy bikes, we buy accessories, we go out on the weekend, we buy fuel, we buy food and drink, employment for those that serve us, food that wouldn't be purchased by those food vendors gst gst gst.
We get caught for speeding and pay speeding fines. How much money over Australia on any one Sunday is paid to the Govt just on speeding fines alone by motorcyclists?
Sorry, I have to go and polish my Ultra, My pride and joy I cant stand having to listen to any idiotic statements from any idiotic people. We were born to die, its that simple and there are many more way to die than off a motorcycle. YEP, Get rid of the motorcycle !!!

And as far as the 1% go, dont get me started, Now 99% of good motorcyclists have to pay their price? And Harleys have now been tainted by the general non motorcycle public. You have to wonder where common sense has gone. AND by the way, the 1% are here to stay, they will just go somewhere else, then back here again but this time I hope its in a black BMW or white Commodore !!!
