What I normally do is drain all the fluid out,then flush the legs out with a bit of diesel fuel,to get a lot of the crud out and then refill.If you get a small piece of wire and stick it into the drain hole,you will probably find a semi solid mass of crud stuck to the fork leg wall.

          do ya hafta remove the forks from the bike completely , like the workshop manual says?

           or are there some shortcuts?
