1 of my mufflers has shit itself . Dealer has taken photos and is asking S&S about it . They may come to the party .22mths old and 12 mth warranty . What is the term I have heard on this Forum for a product to last a reasonable life after warranty expired ? Thanks in advance .

Not sure what term you are referring too, Tim, but here's a link to the ACCC where they talk about consumer guarentees and say "This means consumer guarantees may continue to apply after the time period for the warranty has expired".

Good news here lads . Peter Stevens have ordered a new pair of mufflers in and will fit them next week . They haven,t heard from S&S distributer , so will chase them up themselves , after they get me on my way .               I have had nothing but good dealings with Peter Stevens/ Harley Heaven service department here in Adelaide .

I still think you should have put the stock ones back on. That bike is too noisy, I can hardly hear the voices in my head.

Your pretty much spot on Pauly. Not sure where it's written, but I'm pretty sure that according to Choice, the place you purchased the product from is obliged by law to replace the item, or refund your money, if it isn't of merchantable quality. It's up to them to seek reimbursement from their supplier. Although some places will try it, they cannot fob you off to the manufacturer/importer, whatever. They sold it, they warrant it...full stop.

In this case though, considering that they are out of warranty, and even though they should be replaced by S&S, Peter Stevens are still doing a good thing to keep Tim motoring while sorting the problem...
