This afternoon (17 October 2013) at 2.39 pm we received confirmation from the office of the Attorney-General that the Vicious Lawless Association Disestablishment Bill 2013 has received Royal Assent and is in force.

Although the email does not indicate that the other related bills also received Royal Assent, we understand that all three Bills have received assent.

TWO alleged bikie gang members have been arrested for gathering at a Cairns clubhouse, in the first test of Queensland's new anti-bikie laws. The two men, allegedly members of the Odins Warriors, were arrested at 10am (AEST) today. Media reports say that the two members arrested in Cairns at a Clubhouse actually live in Flats attached to the building, and they were arrested after making inquiries at a local Police station as to their status. Perhaps cops told them they were good then pinched 'em..who knows, but either way when it becomes illegal to stay in your own accomodation legislation has gone way, way too far. No doubt in the next year or two these cases will end up in the High Court and presumably the legislation will get the shit kicked out of it. The SA version got the flick from Canberra in 2010 because the Attorney General bestowed upon himself the power to pick and choose who would be declared.. totally against the separation of powers concept.... Judges must decide, not politicians.!
