Hi guys ... pretty sure there are some Evo devotee`s amongst you all ... have recently scored myself a 99 Fxsts ... the last of the Evo Springers ... if I`m wrong let me know ...
my question is this ... is it correct that this model had a 32 degree head stem angle and is it also correct that this model had a - 2 or 3 degree angle set in it`s forks and just to confuse matters I have been told that the Fx models had a certain - degree where as the Fl models had a slightly different set up .
It won`t look this way for long ... hopefully by the new year she should have a nice Bobber / Chopper look to her ... Tim .
why fuck such clean looking classic bike it would worth a lot more in the future to keep it as it is if it was a rough looking early looking bike I would say go for it but to me that's a waste and bobber should be hardtail sorry tju but I love it the way it is love that colour
my bent bike in my avator and yes your right about 32 deg rake that's what softail evos have
Hi guys , thanks for the response ... HogBag , 11,500 K`s ... yeah pretty clean unit ... it`s amazing how little K`s a lot of those Yanks put on there machines compared to most of us Aussie`s ... I did a nice little ride last week end and clocked up a 1000 K`s on a Saturday and Sunday and wasn`t pushing anywhere near the limits ... just a mate and both our missus out for a cruise through some of our great country roads ... all be it nearly every where you go there are bloody road works going on ... argh .
Perth Hog I hear what you are saying ... it really wasn`t a easy discussion to go ahead and change this clean ride but it was next to impossible to find a wrecked 96 or newer springer for sale at a decent price to do my next project .
My last project that is just about done ... or so I think for now , Lol ... was this 2008 Softail Custom that went from the copper paint scheme to ...
What you see now ... so now I have my modern comfortable ride for the missus and me and just always wanted a Bobbed Springer , solo seat set up for myself ... and agree it would have been cooler to go the whole rigid style but lets face it our Aussie roads are shit and like I said above to HogBag while I love to get out there the reality is a rigid isn`t the right type of bike for 1000 K rides for a 53 year old unfit bugger like me , Lol .
But hey it would be a pretty dull old boring world if we all agreed on every thing and I appreciate your feed back ... when I finish the Springer / Bobber / Chopper project I will post some pics and see what you all think ...
Probably a crazy time to be taking on any Harley project up here in what used to be a great place to ride before the crazies from the Out Law Gold Coast got all the pollies and police into a Harley Bike Blitz frame of mind ... Oh well with a bit of luck by the time I have it finished things might have calmed down a little .
Tim .
