Hey Crook, I hope this pic can help you out. Sorry I can't list the part number, but it's a genuine Harley part.

Hey Ashley thanks mate. Where did you get that and what did it cost? I can't find it in the HD spare parts and accessories manual.

I use the exact same fitting as in FLHuTChU's link but without the locking lever , though ya should be able to get them at most places for less than that eBay price of @ $36 delivered , put whatever type hose connection ya need onto it , once connected to an airline it goes in at a virtual 90 degree angle to the valve stem , works for me , just a pain assuming the position gettin' down to do it ?

Is that elbow adaptor something ya can leave on or connect each time as needed , I presume the air pressure can be checked while that is attached ?
    Cheers

The BP near my house has the setup where you choose the desired pressure first and put the long rubber hose with attachment end onto the bike's rear wheel

The Caltex in the other direction has the pressure guage in the hand held end where you press the flip lever. Does not do the FXSTC rear , can't get the bend on it ( disc as you say !)
Does the front no worries ?

On my Deuce I had for 7 years the valve came out the solid rear wheel at 45 degrees or similar and it was easy , any servo system would work

So I've just used both servos for years although I should carry an adapter. Carried one for years in the tailpiece of my 1974 H2B Kawasaki 750 triple.

Progress ? Fuck me dead !

Phew ... thanks Tim S.G. ... thought I was the only one seeing postie bikes when every one was talking about tyre valves ... unless of course there is something on those postie bike wheels that my old eyes carn`t pick up , Lol .

Crook, you remove this fitting once tyre is inflated. Yes you can check tyre pressure with it on.  I just went to servo and used their automatic inflator, you know the type where you can set whatever pressure you want. I paid around $11 at Peter Stevens, Adelaide.

As for postie bike pic, yeah damn iPhone, I should have learnt my lesson from last time. It seems that once I post a pic from it, if I want to post another from it, it appears if I've just posted the previous photo from it. From now on I'm only going to use my computer to post pictures. That postie bike was meant for Croozy & old Beags, GT and I saw it last weekend at Berri.

Have any of you guys had trouble trying to comment on threads using Google Chrome lately? What's the deal with that? I hate using internet exploder as it's a pain in the arse & too bloody slow.

It's strange that when I use Google Chrome (it doesn't function correctly) either there is very little advertising but if I open the forum in Internet Explorer there are ads everywhere.
I hope those ads are for KC or whoever administers the site.

i was confused about the photo too. i thought 06 softarse was suggesting you buy a posty bike and use it as a compressor. the rage inside me was quickly reaching boiling point before i noticed the small valve extention on the front wheel of the big girl. its just as well i didnt reply and give him a piece of my mind. its a nice enough bike but they just dont look as good without a customised milk crate on the back.

Hi Guys, thanks for all the help and feedback. I think I fixed the problem with the flexible valve extension below.
I called in at my local Harley dealer and tried to get one of the gold right angle extensions that 06 Softail posted but they said it wasn't a genuine part and the valve stem ext below was. (I suspect they just bag up anything that works)
I haven't tried it yet but it looks the goods.

that looks like it should do the job crook but the black bit that you will be screwing onto your valve looks very smooth(hard to grip with two fingers) so if you still have trouble getting it to seal try the old pliers trick. i think you should put the elbow you bought and the new hose you just bought side by side and carefully compare them to see if there are any differences, thread size and depth etc. try screwing the elbow onto the hose as well and vice versa. let us know how you go

Hi CN, the only other issue you may have (which happened to me) is that now the valve is further inside the tube you won't be able to take the tyre pressure as the valve needle is too far down the tube to be pressed in. I was using a digital readout meter which didn't reach in far enough.

Good thread for a laugh, was going to suggest you just change the valve in the tyre fitting for a different one, but looks like its already happened, if it sits at a different height insde the valve stem it might fix it. Push bike pump work better than the servo one on mine.

Well i just went, to servo and used their automated inflator you know the kind, where you can set whatever pressure you want.I compensated around twenty dollar at chris mtevens edelaide.
