Pipes to not recommend to anyone

It could have been a reference to Samson pipes that you read as there are numerous reports of their quality not being up to scratch. Usually around weld joins and rust issues. But also plenty of people who think their pipes are ok

I thought it was about a Cheap EBAY set of pipes.
I had a look and they were out of China.

I have V&H Big Shot Staggered on my 2008 CVO 110

Would not have been my personal choice , but they were on it when I bought the bike ( in Texas !)

They do seem to perform OK ( these are the ones with the balance pipe or " power chamber " ie a wee crossover section well hidden )

They have the LOUD cheesegrater baffles as stock , not the V&H "Quiet " baffles , and I've tried to change them but they're well stuck with rounded cap head bolts so I put them in the TOO HARD basket haha...It's a system off job for Ron , ie " LATER ON " haha...Drilling etc etc , too hard on the bike as the wee bolts are to the rear when the system is mounted.

I did source a couple of pairs of alternative baffles which work well according to various US reports , made by Khromewerks

Chrome and weld quality they seem fine , just TOO loud really , although I've got used to them now but they're still embarrasingly loud to start in any public area like a cafe strip or whatever. I'm genuinely surprised I have not been " spoken to " regarding them !!

    Dyno mate ,

I have read reports from the states that these Khromewerks HP-Plus " drag pipe" baffles work well in the V&H straight system bikes

I've 2 sets to try , one that is " jacketed " ie in a solid pipe already and another that is "open"

Trying to attach photos ( done ) . This is the "open" , the other is the same baffling just within a length of pipe

" The Cobblers children are the worst shod "  so I have not tried them yet , always working on other dudes bikes haha...

I would not recommend Samson pipes as the fit and finnish is shit and their warranty sucks. It took me 3 months of constant phone calls to get them to send a new exhaust over after I returned the original at my cost. Samson would not post to Australia so I had to have it shipped to a mate in the US and have him post over. When the new pipe arived it was the same as the old one I sent back. I had to put in a vice and smack it a few times with a hammer to get the bend right.
Be warned there pipes are cheap china crap

    To Dynoharley

Mate I have one set of each , " open" and jacketed

I just haven't had time to try them yet , the rounded mounting bolts in the V&H need drilling and that's an " off the bike job "

These Khromewerks baffles come with 7/16 bolts and nuts for mounting , a far better idea

I got them from Rollies in Qld no worries , just be careful of the '' inside V outside " pipe diameter thing

They were not expensive even including post cost . Had we both been in Perth I'd lend them to you , I lend out Stock OEM mufflers all the time for pits passing and compliancing .

The local Indy shop here charges $200 to LEND you a set of stock mufflers !! That's just well cheeky I think !!
