I guess Under momentum in a direct hit , it obviously cannot go forward so I think they mean there's a good chance that snagging the bike and high siding the rider as a separate mass will occure if not to snag the rider up in the cabling or posts in the process of sliding into it , either way they're a ridiculous idea and the cockhead that thought of this cheap cost cutting 'get out in an attempt to separate traffic or negate head ons should therefore give himself a swift right uppercut !
When they first installed them about 15yrs ago , I personally seen a fully loaded bogie tippa veer into the M4 breakdown lane (pissed) and collide with a slow moving front end loader punching it fair up the arse , snapped off the tippa's dog and careered across 2 westbound lanes , straight over them cable divides into the 2 oncoming lanes , then he got out and bolted leaving the dozer driver who had came out the back window of the dozer hitting its crossed rear bucket arm before being catipulted about 20 feet in the air and forward when the low positioned front bucket dug into the ramped roadside garden bed , spinning the dozer around , almost cartwheeling it before it ran over him , he had a 5inch head wound and huge dent like he'd been hit with an axe squirting blood 2 or more feet high , we were first to get too him and could only use a rag to hold pressure on his head , he was out cold , luckily there was 2 doctors caught in the traffic which came running down and when the ambos finally moved him there was an indentation of his whole body in the bark mulch , though not sure how he ended up , the hospital wouldn't say when we called to ask how he faired , the tippa went over them cables like there was nothing at all there , only pure luck that he missed several cars on either side of the road , absolutely fucking useless idea , deadly and a total waist of taxpayer coin in my personal opinion !
