I bought my Iron from a dealer who charged reasonable prices for servicing, but then moved to Canberra before the first service.
Now the thieves want $400 for the first logbook service, which is a rip-off by any standard. This is the most mechanically-simple motorcycle I've ever owned, and doesn't even have a fairing that's needs to be removed either, and yet it is twice as expensive to service as anything I've had to pay previously. If I'd known what they charged for servicing, I'd have bought something else! Anyway, I've got the bike now, but what I'm trying to find out is whether there is someone/anyone else in Canberra, other than Robbo's, who can do Harley logbook servicing?
Worst case, I'll just forget the logbook and service it myself as per the manual anyway. I'd prefer to have it signed off officially, but my main concern is just that it gets serviced. Seriously, $400 for an incredibly simple first service on a bike like this? Bloody thievery at best, that is.
Do it your self its easy, get a factory manual that is also a great source for working on your own bike.
Its a Harley its not rocket science also your not going to get more money for your bike if you sell it if you have all the servicing done by a Harley shop
If something is faulty with the bike and they find its a factory issue they will fix your bike under warranty.
