    Hi guys,

I was wondering if any of you know when vance and hines release their 2014 lineup?.

Like in the title Im after some slip-ons, really like the look of the straightshots HS but  have noticed the exhaust are different from the previous year 2013. The 2014 exhaust has the crossflow pipe welded(yep had to double check) the the header pipes just infront of where the stock exhaust is clamped.

this could be either a blessing or a curse depending how you look at it. For me, its an anyoance due to the fact ere is nothing out at the moment.

Might have to look more closely are previous years to see is any had (pure) slip-ons with out the crossflow bung in it.

    Anyone experienced this problem before?

    Thanks Dave

    Hmm...

These look like they are the only ones available..... in the States. $419.us wonder how much they will cost here when available.

    Also noted:-
Fits ’14 XL models. Installation requires separate purchase of End Caps and Muffler Clamps (P/N 65296-95A; Qty. 2). $119. us LOL

Hope V&H come out with something soon

Added  pics for clarification. Also read on the U.S site that the  ABS gets in the way of  the exhaust. They may have moved the rear brake master cylinder but I can't see why it would affect  placement  of the slip ons.

Can anyone else elaborate on this who has more in-depth knowledge of sportster exhausts?

    Dave

Vance and Hines have now released the 2014 range. The Straight Shots HS are part number 16863 - $299.95 US or  $389.95 on cassons.com.au

From what I can tell they are just shorter in length. They look to clear the rear brake master cylinder with ease.

Now the wait is on to see how much AU stores will mark up..

I have been viewing your monologue here but as I don't have a late model sportster, I have nothing to add. I see you have started the mods on your bike, seat change and a headlight nacelle. All looking good. Hope you are enjoying the ride.

Well called Harley Heaven today and found out it will be a couple of months before anything shows :( .. I must admit the service I got was top notch and very professional. With the great attitude and the willingness to help I will most definitely be ordering from them when the time comes :D

Well got bored today and took the mufflers off. Couple hard bangs and well a 30mm plug popped out lol pretty sure they were 'tacked' in but the came out pretty easy.

Guess I dont need staight shots anymore lol.  Honestly it has a bit too much bark when you crack it, might look for some quiet baffles to smooth it out :)

Good one mate. Great conversation you have been having with yourself on this thread! I have been watching with interest anyway. Too late now, and sorry I did not post this earlier, but you could have drilled the plugs you have bashed out using an extension piece and a step drill (available form any local Bunnings). I did this to mine (2010 model) and was able to steadily increase the size of the drilled hole until it was sounding good but not too loud. 14mm did the trick. Full points for keenness and impatience champ.  Cheers, TC

Well went to bunnings and picked up 2 'nuts' and fashioned 2 'plugs' ,  hammered them 23cm deep into each pipe from the rear . The 'plugs' have a center diameter of 20mm.

This gave the exhaust a nicer rumble at idle and when cracking the throttle the bark is not as harsh. decibel reading from iphone app was 87dB at high idle and 95-100 dB when cracked. Would most likely be more under load.

Genius! Can't beat Bunnings for bike mod bits. Well done. TC

Well ordred the straightshots part 16863 from morepowerracing. They got back to me straight away regarding creditcard and it was deemed easier to paypal them. Not a worry they refunded the credit card so now now the wait is on.

On a side note i forgot to roder the quiet baffles aswell so... lets wait and see how things go :D

Well the Slip-ons finally arrived yesterday and were promptly installed. A ride to work this morning was, lets just say, a loud one  smiley Even with ear plugs you could 'feel'  the  pulses coming from the exhaust. The quiet baffles are on the  way along with the SE stage 1  air cleaner so hopefully they will arrive this arvo. If not I will put the stockies back on as now I'm just a big loud magnet to the local constabulary, and any more attention will probably not be a good  one.

I had the VH longshots on my 2012 without the quiet baffles and wrooooaaa they were loud. Decided I do not want to ride with ear plugs and put the quiet baffles in. They are not quiet but just right for the sound and to be heard ;-)

I'm running S&S slip ons on my 2014 48. Absolutely love the sound they make. Still loud, but not VH loud. Also look stock, so less conspicuous.

Running the same pipes on my '12 Forty Eight without the inserts, sounds fantastic to me.  Hope you like them as much as I do :)

Yeah I am definately loving them, probably wouldn't mind one more wind of  exhaust packing aorund the Quiet baffle.

I am running the FL-AF-XiED-10 hnow that the stage 1 cleaner is installed and set the dial  at 75% and they seem to be doing the job nicely. Might even bump up the dial one more notch just to see how much a diffenrence it makes.

Love the throaty sound it makes but for me I need ear plugs, most likely due to the headlight fairing turbulance round my ears oh and tinnitus lolcheeky

Neverland, nice mods on your machine.
I have question re the v&h slip ons you've installed as I'm thinking of it for my 2014 Iron:
    1) meet AU regulations?
    2) besides the slip ons, what else should I buy to install it (will ask if dealership in Sydney can install)?
Thats all I can think of now, if have other questions will ask :)
    Thanks mate!

In case anyone hasn't seen them yet, D&D has released some systems for the 2014s. I'm strongly considering a bobcat. Love the sound they make!
