Hello Everyone,
So I’ve had the Sportster for a couple of weeks now. Didn't really care for the 'two up seat' and sissy bar on the back. Started researching single seat options. The HD parts accessories catalogue is awesome!
Found the Brawler seat which I thought looked good, started doing some ground work and one popped up on Ebay! Well here it is on the bike. I think it looks great feels quite good but hasn't been properly test ridden yet!
Now comes the decision on the bars. I'd like something lower. Smother looking I think. Looked as drag bars got a quote from HH $1550 fitted
Got another quote from a non HD dealer and it was about $800 for the same thing.
I am wondering if this is something I can do myself? Will I really need to shorten the cables and lines? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
$800 even sounds ridiculous, and yes it is definitely something you can do yourself. Mate have a chat to T1; he's in Melbourne and would be all over this stuff! I posted a Youtube clip sometime ago about how to successfully pull the plugs apart without fucking anything up; speak to Walka about a set of bars, cables etc and I reckon you'll walk away for $350 tops! You shouldnt even have to replace your cables with a 32' set of drag bars, if you dont want to internally wire, it is literally a 30min job. If you want to internally wire, look for the clip I posted and its not half has bad as you would expect. Have a go mate, you really cant fuck anything up too much..........believe me, I've tried!! Waz
Thanks for the advice. Got the bars just picked them up from a place in Epping. Also got some chrome switch gear housings don't know why If the look shit I'll ditch them.
We'll see how badlly I brake by new toy!
32 inch drag bars with a 3 inch pull back.
Yep got them from Epping VPW. Seems like a good place, bloody busy fdown there. Got the bars fitted up, new switch housings and grips from HH also installed. The cables seem a bit long. The brake line probablly needs replacing has a fair old kink in it. Had to bend it up a bit to get it fitted. Clutch cable is way too long and the throttle cables stick out a mile now. These are all the things than I can deal with over the next week or so. I think it looks good. I tell ya what having fat fingers is a pain the arse! Changing the switch gear over and losing a couple of the cable ends was not fun. The end result is good. I wonder if it's going to be comfortable? The throttle cable needs adjusting seems slack. I'll You Tube on the procedure. PS - I download a workshop manual for ten bucks if anyone wants a copy let me know. Cheers
