gday all im thinking of changing the pipes on my street bob which has a 120R in it.

currently has vance and hines big shots on it which have the "power chamber" which is a balance pipe pretty much. i dont mind the sound of them and have tried the silencers in them to get a bit more back pressure happening. Hear many stories of them robbing power but am unsure what to get to replace them.

i have always liked twins on my harleys so unsure about getting a 2 into 1 system

Any thoughts on whats best??  cheers

Can't wait to hear how it goes. I can believe how many 120r's or out there now. Has been I winner for HD I'm thinking.

Ando - the bike made 129hp 129 ft-lbs on the Eastern big twin dyno after they tuned it

it made 110hp 112ft-lbs the other week at richardsons but i think there dyno was showing a bit low on the day (other bikes made around 10-12 HP less aswell)

thinking of taking it somewhere else to get it re-checked soon as i want to make sure it isnt running lean or anything

I have my eye on the wegners x-pipe as they look the business, real nice design

Havent dynoed the bike with the V&H's and 120R. Thought I would save the coin and just wait for the D&D to arrive then do dyno.  Seat of the pants feel is pretty good all the same though.

Hi BDA103, How did the D&D Boarzillas go on your 120r. Did you get the wrapped or unwrapped baffles. I'm debating the Boarzilla and supertrap supermeg. Waste heaps money on pipes aready don't want to blow more.

I am very happy with the Boarzilla, was well worth the wait. The V&H's were very loud and raspy whereas the the D&D has a much deeper note and seems sound a bit more socially acceptable at gentle throttle openings. Snarls plenty if you get into it though but again doesnt sound as harsh as the bigshots were on the 120.

Powerwise it feels to spool up quicker than the V&H and seems less restricted but I never spent the coin to get a before dyno reading with the V&H so its just a seat of the pants guesstimate.

    I got the perforated wrapped baffle Part # 581 - 32BQ.

Looks the goods too over the V&H but thats just my opinion for whats its worth.

    BDA103,

They do look awesome. They look to be a 2 peice pipe. My bike has shaken the shit out of mine, wearing through at the joint of the slippons.

    cheers dutchy

    Hilly,

If you contact Daggs on this forum he as some neat trick he has been shown by Lushy for those pipes. They got good results on the dyno with them too.

The patriot defender 2-1 is said to be getting the best exhaust results on sporties. I have one on my softail but have no basis for comparison as not professionally tunes (tts). They are stepped but also have the benefit of being sound adjustable on the fly

the boarzilla looks the goods on the fatbob bda!

where did you get the pipe from?

and is the air cleaner a screamin eagle one? im looking at changing that aswell, want to be able to use the rear brake a bit better as my aircleaner gets in the bloody way! you have to bend ya leg around the damn thing!

Got the pipe from M&M cycles $815 + $229 shipping (USD). Took a fair while to come on account of the factory running a backlog of orders and chroming.

The AC is just the garden variety SE Heavy Breather to suit the 58mm throttle body but has the SE black cover fitted as well.

    PN# 29253-08B

    PN# 28739-10 SE air filter

I have the heavy breather on mine. Shit in the rain the socks a waste of time. If you have been riding at a constant speed in the wet and you are about to over take. Drop it back couple of gears a minute or so before passing to suck water out of air cleaner. Other wise you will end up stuck on the other side of the road with bike a spluttering mess. Would not buy one again as I get caught in the rain alot.

What's funny. Coming home the other morning 1.00am in thunder storm pissing with rain. Was unprepaired did not have rain sock with me. Funny because I had shit loads less problems without the sock on there. Mind you I was giving it some stick to get home quick.

My experience has shown the opposite. Rain sock works.
Without it in heavy rain my bike wouldn't accelerate and misfired etc, with it in heavy rain in runs normal.

Yes most definatly keeps the larger insects etc out of the cleaner but i often wonder how much leaner it makes the motor run. I did the tune without the sock on.Maybe one of the knowlegeable engine boys can give an answer.......?
