Be good to hear from the Lushies and Ants of the world about good performing pipes on big cubed motors ( No Bagger exhausts)

I have a Freedom  Outlaw 2:1 with a 3 stepped header and I feel its robbing power from my 120r

I was thinking a head down the 2:2 path but they all seam to be just a 1 3/4 header pipe with 2 1/2 baffle,,,,,,,,, is this enough exhaust

what are the thought of people who have tested, played with pipes on what will work on my Softail

Long, short, small or large headers?????????????

Other than a sales pitch, I've never heard anything good about stepped headers.
Each step to a larger diameter would have to loose velocity and cause shock waves.
There must also be a rule of thumb for exhaust header size related to the exhaust valve size ?

    For everyone's info and discussion.

The D&D Borzilla 2-1 has no steps, runs 1.850" headers into 3.000" collector into 4.000" muffler. These are OD measurements.

The D&D FatCat 2-1 runs 1.750" headers with similar collector and shorter muffler(bout 1")
When I find my Borzilla  dyno sheet will attach.

    Found it.

was just about to put a similar question up! i have a set of vance and hines big shots which is a 2-2 with a balance pipe so to speak on my 120r in my dyna. have just put the quiet baffles in to see if this helps by getting a bit of back pressure in there.

would be great to see what others have used on bigger cube engines

both pipes were dyno'ed but not on the same powerplant. I had a FatCat on my 107ci and went Borzilla on my 120ci.
Zilla sheet is attached in previous post above, not for numbers talk but more so the curve of a big bore engine and 2-1 exhaust, fit for purpose.

I have V&H big shot staggered on my little 103stg iv and was on advice from HD shop that pipes would be the rite system for upgrade ,I said I wanted the best pipes to get the best out of what engine can produce as I was keen on V&H 2 into 1 competition pipe ,I wanted the best not worried about brand just the best pipe as I don't want to have to change later ,I want everything done now not coming back to shop to change pipes if unsatisfied with engine mods ,he said I wont be disappointed with mods done and pipes are good for this upgrade and I give this bike hell and bike goes like hell no flat spots hesitation at all you twist throttle and instant response every time so I give pipes thumbs up sure they make a racket but that's what I like and lots of noise on deceleration as well but I don't mind motor performs flawlessly every time I ride it ,I put dyno chart here as proof of performance with big shots SHINGLES
