two to three years is what you can expect out of a battery, and another two to three years if you use a trickle charger.  I use my trickle charger all the time, it makes me feel confident when I go to work that the bike will start.

Redline. My Dyna struggled from day 1, put in a Redline (High CCAs and they're cheap) and it fires up as I push the starter button. YYMV In Ebay search for HV1 and it will bring up the Redline batteries.

+ 1 Battery Tender  .     Every 4 years replace battery , I dont wont to be stranded.   Battery with higer CCA rating than OEM would be a plus.  Just be aware when you buy off internet that the battery  will fit your model bike.  When you get it delivered you dont want  the battery terminal posts etc,  to be differernt  and not fit under the seat or wherever  its located on your bike !!

Battery's are very similar to women. Treat em nice and look after them and they will serve you well. Treat em like shit and they will fuck you over, and leave you in the lurch!
Everyone has a story to tell regarding these little 12 volt wonders. Some good, some bad.
But since you are asking for members opinions, here is my personal one. I have had 4 H-D's over the last ten years, and none of them has ever let me down. I never use a trickle charger either. (not saying you don't need one as i have one but have never used it) I ride my bike on a regular basis and for this reason i believe it gets a good charge when i do ride. All battery's were the Harley oem type.
I just make sure when i get a bike that all connections and earths at all points are tight and clean. I don't do any just to the shops and back type riding either. It is all 100ks + when i do ride which ensures a good charge. If you have a standard motor then a standard batt should be fine. But with a high comp motor, then maybe a higher cca type would be better and also a higher output starter would help.
The best i have got out of any one bike was 5 years. (Not a Harley though. Honda Valkyrie) Hope this helps.

IMO you only need a tender if you are a fair weather rider.

See if you can get a Shorai lithium battery that will fit.

I put one in my KTM 530 which chews threw regular batteries and it's been golden for a year without any trickle charger, and it cranks with so much more power than the stocker.

Oh yeah, it should be about half the size and half (or less) the weight.
