Number plate mount on Ultra Classic

My 2008 Ultra Classic has arrived from the States where I bought it earlier in the year, and I am getting it ready to register it in Victoria. I have a question about the Stock number plate  mounting point that is high up under the Top Box. With the discussion that come up awhile back on number plate surrounds that are Dealer installed (advertising), and the viewing angles etc. I am not sure if this will be legal, or able to be roadworthied, maybe it will have to have a new lower down  bracket. I havent seen any around lately and last time I was in the bike shop last month, it wasnt something that I looked at.  I have looked at everyones photos but it seems everyone takes the " side on" extra chromey pictures, or front on headlight and bars pics.

I dont want to get into the roadworthy shop and have it fail for some bullshit thing like that, it would be better to ask here and maybe find out for sure, and fix  it first. You get 28 days to rectify stuff,  but then I work 3 weeks on and 3 off.  I dont like wasting by time off when the weather is good.

    Thanks Steve

Ok I went back and added a photo, this shows the stock standard U.S. mount for number plates. I don't know if Australian, or Victorian for that matter have to be mounted lower.

    thanks Steve

Be interesting to see how you get on Steve.

The plate location is an issue regards ADR, as are the red indicator lenzes and the red side running lights on the king tour pack, you might even have problems with the red reflectors on the saddle bag latches that ADR require to be amber.

They're a pain in the arse if they pull out the book, I'd try my luck as it is and hope that it gets through.

    Good luck Mate.

Nice lookin bike by the way.

That photo was taken in Texas, since then it has gone through R.A.W.S. here and the lenes have been changed and the other crap that has to be done, (tyres, brake pads and fluid and speedo changed also.)

The red reflectors on the saddle bags and running lights on the luggage are ok apparently. I  hope so.

I tried a few different things to hide the yankee plate mounting, even thought of cutting it off at one stage. Stuck an Aussie flag onto it, but in the end I found the best look and most practical solution was to fit a leather tool roll bag onto it.

It attaches quite nicely to the plate bracket while sitting on top of the tail/stop light lenz.

    this pic just shows it,

I mounted mine onto the bag & put a plug system in for when I take the bag off I think it looks good.

     Hi

I recently registered my American import in Tassie. No issues with any of the above, it may depend on the inspector. Mine does have orange indicator lenses.

Pretty sure my bro in laws is mounted below the indicator bar as ' Oz standard (or how he bought her new) on his ultra ?
Nice cover for the top bracket ' rider hey , he was only just recently wondering out loud what he could do with the vacant top bracket .
    Cheers
