I know jack crap about this stuff (I run V&H too) but everyone told me there's more power from the 2 in 1s - I just never liked the look.

Yes definitely, you will get better numbers with a 2 into 1 pipe then any vance and hines shit, every day of the week.

Dare I say anything about V&H.

Yep all good figures but where are the comparison charts with 2 into 1 s. they don't answer the question asked

This is the original thread question

"Recently upgraded 96 to 103 stage iv,happy with outcome but curious is it worth changing vance hines big radius pipes,,dynoed at 100HP-109TQ,To a 2-1 system will i get much better results?"

I'm not questioning your credentials, you obviously know more then me.

I'm just telling my experience of 3 past performance engines with V&H on em and changes to 2 into 1s. As well as direction from my mate and head harley tech over the years.
I've had this discussion many times with many people. If ya like V&H then run em..
I reckon there shit.... Each to there own

A 2 :1 will generally make better power between 2400 rpm to 4600 rpm than 2:2. V&H Big Radius in unmodified form are a great way to make a lot of noise, not great for power. If your 96/103 is a 2007 model, then the stock headers with some S&S T Turbos or slashies will make heaps better power than the B R pipes. A D&D 2:1 will make good power as well. A stage 4 103 with the 58 throttle body and the SE 259E cams should go at least 112-115 HP. You will of course need to tune the bike.

I have V&H Tracker 2 into 1 exhaust, really like the look also the sound but that is my own personal opinion. Also they arent as loud as some of the dual pipe exhausts, im really not worried about the power its just a cruiser.

There are allsorts of 2:1's and 2:2's. As dynoharley says MANY things make a package better or worse. As A rule of thumb I have found the above. But it Depends on the exhaust. Just rode a 120R out of here which made 135 with a D&D 2:1 fatcat exh, it did 124 with stock headers and S&S TT mufflers. The bike was quite a bit worse to ride under 2700rpm with the 2:1. So the owner had me do some mods to the stock headers/mufflers and a few other things. It now does 131 with the stock headers /TT mufflers but is HEAPS better where he rides it most,... under 4000rpm. 135 FTlbs torque . I literally just rode it around at 1750 -2200 thru the gears everywhere to test it. Rides very nicely with small increments of throttle. With this exh it is quieter and looks more stock. Your stage 4 will be held back by those BR pipes as they are from the shop. Is your stg 4 as per the SE catalogue?

If your stg 4 is straight out of the SE book as you say then it should do 112-115 all day long, even with the V&H pipes it should do better than 100hp. Have any of your mates got a system you can bolt on and do a lap of the block to try?
