Hi all, have been speaking to goggleman in Colac Vic about some decent riding prescription sunglasses for open face. I knew about Goggleman through Dirtbike riders who have their prescription inserts for mx Enduro riding goggles. So I rang them because I was interested in the Oakley wind Jackets, the girl i spoke to was Michelle who was very helpful. She suggested to send 3 pairs of glasses to try out so I thought i would review them over the next week. FIT: Pair No 1 Oakley windjackets: very comfortable on the face hardly notice the gasket especially for peripheral vision. Do not have too much of that Goggle effect that cuts down vision. Not so easy to get on & off with helmet on as rubber on the arms is fairly sticky and pulls on the hair a little. I would put helmet on after glasses. First impression: Excellent. Pair No 2: 7eye Bora: Also very good peripheral vision maybe slight goggle effect but ver comfy You do notice the gasket a little more than the Oakley but impressive! Also excellent in this catergory! Pair No3: Also 7eye but Churada model: Straight off what I notice about these is the lack of peripheral vision & much more goggle effect! However I don"t think that is a problem but I prefer to be able to see a little more as in field of vision. Also Very comfortable with a slight different material in the gasket more of a velour material than the other 7eye. Very good but I would prefer Bora model as peripheral vision is much better. Tommorow I will try the Oakleys out on the Bike! Comfort & Vision: 1st Oakley Windjacket. ****** 2nd 7eye Bora ***** 3rd 7eye Churada **** Stay Tuned. Grant.
Wtf is up with you r L a y out ?
G'day Bonkerz, I did type the review on here! I put into paragraphs for easy reading but when i hit submit button it changed the format?? Cheers Grant. Hopefully i will get out & review Oakleys at some point today but at the moment it is pissing down!! Grant.
Weird. You can't tab a new paragraph in here so I have NFI how you formatted it. Whatver you did, don't do it...lol.
Ok, I went for a ride today to try the Oakley wind jackets. The weather is pretty cold down here today, so it was a good opportunity to try them. Much better than conventional sunnies My eyes did start to water a little but once I got up around 90k's I think the glasse sealed a little better. My eyes did not run like with my conventional sunnies, but they did water up a little. I rode about 8ks with the Oakley on and got up to !00 ks. I stopped and swapped glasses to 7eye Bora model which seem to seal better around face, not sure if they actually do but it is a little hard to tell as the Oakley seal is very soft. After riding back home with the 7eye Bora model I thought they did seal the wind out a little better. So after I had a little lunch I went for another ride this time starting with the 7eye Bora & then swapping to the Oakley Windjacket for the ride home! I'm glad I did this because this time the Oakley seemed to be a little better at stopping my eyes from tearing up. So my conclusion is because I was coming out of a warm environment into the cold and my eyes had not adjusted!! So between the Oakley Windjackets & the 7eye Bora model? I would have to say it is a dead heat at the moment, The Oakley maybe for comfort & vision, I think the seal on these could be improved with a little less radius on my face! Maybe straighten at the nose a little with some heat. I will be further testing the glasse out over the next few days so I will update you all on my findings! And let you know the prices with Prescription lenses! Cheers Grant
Hey Underground, what is you curent setup? And where are you? Cheers. Grant.
Sorry Guys, went dirtbike riding Saturday and have hurt my back, so haven't been on the bike for a while. I have been out since my last post though and this is what I'm thinking at the mpment! Both the 7eyes & the Oakley wind jackets are excellent I think on warmer days they are much the same, but I think the 7eyes seal a little better around my face and are a little better than the Oakley for me. The Oakley seem to be a little too curved for my face and seem to sit off a little around the nose area. A few mates have also tried the glasses and lean toward the 7eye bora model they all seem to think they seal a little better than the Oakley the 7eye Churada model has hardly been tried just because of the goggle effect when looking through them. we are planning a decent ride this weekend so we will test them a little more extensively. Price? O.K first of all I just got off the phone from Michelle at Goggleman, she told me if you like Goggleman on facebook you will recieve $30.00 off if you buy online the code is like. I think anyone thinking of buying or trying glasses or goggles should try Goggleman I have had 3 pair to test out from them so its not only try b4 you buy Its try the bloody lot b4 you buy! Anyway prices of normal sunnies are as follows! I was stunned to find the price of the 7eyes at only $139.00 for the tinted model and $209.00 for the polarised. 7eye prescription polarised $449.00 7eye transition $519 7eye polarised photochromatic $610. The Oakley are $499.00 for normal sunnies and $ 729.95 for prescription polarised! For me it looks like the 7eye but I will test a little more over the next few days. One word of advice ring Goggleman before you buy any glasses and speak to Michelle who was very helpful! Cheers Grant.
Hah! Went down to my local nuts and bolts shop yesterday and picked up a pair of safety (sun)glasses - wrap-around - that work perfectly for keeping out the wind, impact resistant and good for UV. Cost? $8!
