Looking for some advice on standard rear shocks. Just cleaned her and noticed a bit of damage to bottom end of my VH Sideshots. Understand there adjustable but wondering if adjusting will be enough. I weigh about 85 kilos will ride mostly on my own but will have occasional pillion. Appreciate your help.

    Cheers FC

Best advice for stock rear shocks , bin them .Progressive or icon , many threads on here . Find someone with the same bike as yours who has aftermarket shocks and talk with them .

Tim is right however the fatbob shocks are not to bad for stock. I also weigh 85 and when mine had the stockers i always set them on 2nd or 3rd setting.

Progressive rears are not what they used to be, bought a new set and had em on for awhile then fucked em off and put some ricors (link below) on, made to my weight.
Great shock and prob the best ive ever run although have never tryed the ikons.

Also its not uncommon to scrap pipes on the fatbob regardless of shocks.
I raised the rear by getting the 13 inch ricors rather then stock height of 12. gave me more clearance.

     Hi FC

i have the 2013 Fatbob as well. S&S slipons and would need to drop the bike to scrape them. I have scraped the pegs a couple of times. Scared the shit outta myself.the shop set my shocks on 3 and if I hit a bump at 100 Kim + I gotta hang on or I would be bounced off. Am thinking bout winding it back to 2. have you tried upping the settings on the standard shocks. Sorry probably stupid suggestion , I am new and this is my first harley.

    Have you dyno'd yours

i am still going through all the old posts on here to work out which way to go in regard to xieds or tuner etc.

it am gonna stop with slipons and high flow filter ,how is yours running. Is the power noticeable. I still am amazed at the power out he box on this tthing.

    sorry mindless rambling

JMHO, I've ricor 13"rear shocks set for my style and prigressive springs in the front wih the ricor fork valves and true trak stabilizers.

In my opinion that's what you have to do to get them in the handling ballpark.

ps. I've got an XR1200X with Wilbers shocks etc and they are just amazing.just amazing.

pps. Used to have V&H big radius 2:2 that made their own fireworks show every corner.  Pissed them off and got a 2 into 1 that's got ground clearance.

Need one of these Frothy, about $20 bucks from dealers. Lock it onto the holes in shocks and twist em to the setting ya want.
