New pipes and filter help.

     Hi all

I recently got a quote from the dealer to install a set of V&H pipes and a Heavy breather filter, along with the super tuner and fitting it worked out to many many more dollars than I was hoping to spend.

Now I know I can fit the pipes and filter myself, and after a little research I'm thinking that a power commander V is probably the way to go. My question is, has anyone done this themselves, and more importantly if I pull all of this off does it save me a trip to the dealer for tuning or is that something I should still do after I have installed all the bits and mapped the PCV.

    Thanks in advance

     Thanks Rodtrain

sounds easy enough, so no trip to the dealer for a tuning then?

Agree, all those jobs are easy - and for me anyway, part of the fun of having the bike. Regarding the tuner, once you've put the new map in a lot of people will get a dyno tune. I haven't yet as I'm using the powervision self tune - but believe a dyno would be better.  Read some posts on this site that dealers don't always dyno tune the bikes, they just drop pre configured maps in, not sure if that's right, but if it is, no point in paying them for doing what you can do at home.  Good luck, cheers

Amazing! thanks for all the advice and the very kind offers for help. I'm picking up a set of straight shot mufflers this weekend and will get the PCV in the mail!
