    hello there guys,

I was just wondering what sort of kms you all get out of a tank of juice????

I have an 04 1200 custom and I have the standard 17ltr tank I have been filling it up at around the 180km mark (before the low fuel light comes on)

and I have never use the reserve tank at all.

another question is how far does the reserve get you ?????

I really don't want to run out and I was also curious to see what everyone else is getting out of their bikes

    Cheers

what is this reserve people are talking about? I just assumed when the light comes on that is essentially 'the reserve'. my old bike had a little lever that you turned to go on the reserve.

    Enlighten me :)

350 or 360 klm out of my 2012 street glide on cruise control on the open road, have limped into the servo with 370klm on the odo. Less than 300klm around town.

194k and the light came on. hmmm, Put 9.08 litres in. Guess I have a  little to go lol. Then again with only 397km on the clock it can only get better :D

i assumed that there was a sensor in the tank rather than the computer doing calcs. From all teh peolpe who do tank lifts then have issues with the light becoming really inaccurate my thinking was there is a sensor towards the front of the tank.

I'm usually around 230 - 240km before the light comes and usullly put in around 11 - 12 L.  It sems the low fuel light is pretty random in operation.

'05 1200c - switched to reserve yesterday at 297km - filled 14.4 liters - pretty consistently get around 20-21 k/pl. Fuel tap with reserve switch - best invention since sliced bread !!

Just re-using this topic for a related question.

Got a 48 with 1.5" tank lift. Original tank with 7.9 litres - at least this is what is listed in the manual.

Did anybody run their bike completly bone dry? Or what was the max capacity you reached when refilling? Somehow I never came above 6.5l / 135km and already thought I'm pushing it. I sometimes ride another 30k when the warning light comes on. And that is city commute.

So long story short if the tank really fits 7.9 I can put on another 20km easily... right?

all 48 have the same 7.9l tank if I'm not mistaken...

What I was after is the question what did the guys here reach as max refill when they ran their bikes almost bone dry. Up to now I only reached 6.5 of the 7.9 which I find a bit weird.

Maybe the tank lift has an impact but it shouldn't be too much, right?
