Seen a similar home made job used in Bangkok Harley Davidson a few years back , they just had the inward facing top and bottom C-sections welded to "2 small screw jacks" that were inline length ways and had the centre screw threads welded together end to end and a 1/2" drive socket welded to the outer so it could be raised/lowered both in tandem via 1/2" drive ratchet . (The 2 screw jacks have to be identical and being 2 , broadened the loading capacity perfectly for a bike as the top points of the screw jacks lined up well with the width of the bikes frame at any height)
They do the exact same job as the one in Burnzi' 1st pic and were used only to raise front or in this case rear , whilst the bike (a brand new FLSTC) was already raised on a full size pneumatic bike lift .
Hope I didn't confuse the explanation too much , got pics of it somewhere ,But as you can imagine , it is a fairly simple design idea which works a treat .
    Cheers

Rodtrain the $90.00 one is to sit on the other one. They are used to get the back wheel off once its up on the table stand. So if the mrs asks ......yes you need both!

    Like Burnzi said, I'd say.

The table lift is good for working on your bike for whatever you do to it while it's sitting on it's wheels, but if you wanta take the weight off the wheels for whatever reason, the scissor lift is the go......

You will be also happy about how the cheaper one sits the whole bike level to work on or even for cleaning.
