    G'day,

two workmates, on seperate rides, one with the Ulysses Club, have reported that all the bikes on each ride were defected due to noisy exhausts. Has anyone heard news of a new blitz, and is it safe to venture out. The news has a lot of workmates worried, including me, with my lovely sounding S & S pipes.

Hmmmm, sounds to me like the lads are working upto a blitz to me.
There has been chat about a blitz state wide (NSW).

I hear 1 harley drive past my house each day (not mine) I hear and see 10 Commofalcons with drivers that think they are supercar drivers roar past (60k zone) dropping wheelies everywhere and we are the bad guys?? If only there was 1% commodore and falcon clubs

Too true burnzi, i usually only hear one H-D at about 5 in the morning and he is a loud fucker! He has no respect for his neighbours cause he revs it through the gears unneccesarily down every street on his way outa town. He could be a bit quieter if he wants. But,  I always hear plenty of the dumb falcodore drivers who love the sound of their asthmatic 6cyl with a hotdog,  reving and doin burnouts around the corners and this happens all night long in my lovely peice of suburban paradise!

i noticed on telli the other night in Victoria the news about the guy who they nabbed for doing 275 kph down the hume only having a partial number plate to go buy. made bigger news when they dropped all the charges and that's when I saw the news shorts for the night. read "man has charges dropped after being caught doing 275 etc" guess what bike pic they had in the background.. yep. one Harley. im not real sure but there wouldn't be too many Harleys able to cruise at 275. trouble is the general public will once again assume that all Harley riders ride like that then get off due to a technicality. then when they hold a blitz for anything bike related , Harleys are the publics favourite target due to misrepresentation via the media and police. time to buy a postie bike I reckon.

there load and that's the way we like them,

I have 32 inch of un-baffled exhaust, that since the 88 to 103 upgrade, has got loader and the "crack" has become deeper (bass)

I do "sneek" out in the early mornings and have taken onboard one neighbours complaint that when riding by her place "take it easy"

I hope my luck olds up with the police, (now I have proberly jinxed it)

My mates Honda Shadow is way louder than my Evo - he does run unbaffled Vance & Hines short shots. Perhaps I'm too quiet...lol

If they brought the cut off point up to 105db, normal riders would get away and the overly loud would get hassled.
Simple, they just have to go to far. Election coming up, I wonder who would raise the level?

There  are a lot of noisy bikes out there and I see it everyday, really no need to have a very noisy bike. There is a guy on a Boulevard who goes flatout in 1st & second gear and that thing is so noisy its not funny and it really sounds like shit, sounds like its running on one cylinder. Also why do guys persist in giving their bike a fist full through a crowded place cannot understand it. There are alot of riders out there bringing attention to themselves just waiting to get fined.

I live in Cairns and it doesn't matter where you go these days, if you have a harley, they'll try you for noise, if you have a sports bike, they'll get you for a tail tidy, it's bullshit!! they spend more time and effort in trying to get fines then putting that effort back into where it's needed to the community, fingers crossed it's been a while for me.

I got pulled over the last weekend by HWY patrol for RBT and licence check ect (NSW). I left the bike running for a little while and then turned it off. Copper asked if the bike was new i said no he said it looked new , he walked around it admiring it and handed back licence. If they are the jealous type they will probably write you a ticked but otherwise all goods. Btw my pipes are moderately loud but not excessive.

All agreed that loud pipes should be sweet unless obnoxiously loud , almost everyone can appreciate a kool sounding hog , but it seems to be about 'emissions , which on all late model rides there is Stationary Noise Testing Information Sticker on the left side of the frame neck stating 86db and HD standards code and part number of OEM mufflers fitted , any modification is in breach of the regulations so its a virtual revenue gold mine waiting to happen as not many people leave the standard OEM gear on , guess you can be pulled up and breathalized a dozen times without a problem if not excessively loud but there's nothing stopping them or the next fella from deciding to have you tested , as ya know a slow day , or even a anonymous complaint is enough to recieve a notice and it then costs you for the privilege regardless of whether ya rides modified or not ?
I haven't been done for it yet , though used to get attention with the V&H bigshots on the old heritage as they were pretty loud but the V&H MO's I have on me Roadie are fairly tame but even they would be in breach of the regs or 86db I think ?
Either way , seems there's plenty of revenue to be had there if they so choose , but it does seem to be a double standard in terms of Safety since they are currently raising the sound of all emergency vehicle sirens for that exact reason , people not hearing them clearly ?
    Cheers
