transmission oil change

    hi! i have a 1996 heritage, wanting to change oil in transmission but don't know where the drain plug is for the old oil? it"s not up underneath between shocks.

    any info would be great , thanks

     it's  under the clutch release cover on the right side  behind the front muffler , it should be a torx head npt  thread

    hi! under clutch cover has 3 bolts the middle one is recessed in a bit is this the one to drain ? regards olly

    A manual would be a godsend mate! Do you know what torque to use to tighten it back up? (too much and the thread strips)

    yep have manual but it tells ya that the drain plug is underneath between the shockys. not so on my ride.

     1999 & up are between the shock on s/tails, 1996 s/tail is on the right side under the clutch release cover  in the middle   inbetween the allen bolts it should be a torx head, you mush have the wrong model manual

    No i have the right manual its for 1995 - 1996 FLSTC/F/N AND FXSTC OFFICIAL FACTORY MANUAL, BUT I CANT FIND ANY INFO ON DRAIN PLUG.
    ALL THE BOOK SAYS IS DRAIN TRANSMISSION AND REMOVE FILLER PLUG.BUT THANKS I KNOW WHICH ONE IT IS NOW THANKS FOR THE INFO.
    TORQUE FOR PLUG IS 0.16 - 0.18 IN OR 4.1 - 4.6 MM REGARDS OLLY
