Time for new rear hoop on my FXR so whats your opinion of whats currently out there? My last two or three have been Shinko 712 and i reckon they'll be hard to beat for the price as well as their grip and handling. I realise its probably been covered b4 but im buggered if i can work out how to do a topic search.

    Cheers

Am in exactly the same boat for my FXR too....nearly down to the canvas on the rear Metzler. Have run the Metzler ME880 for the past 15 years or so however this time around I am looking at giving the Pirelli Night Dragons a try. No specific reason per-sec, but i have heard equally good things about them (wear well and corner nicely).

Just pricing out options at the moment.

    Cheers

That's exactly the model Shinko I was looking at.... It's definitely a toss up between the Pirilli and Shinko

Cheers.... I need sticky as the Metz are stepping out too much when I give it a handful. Having said that I popped the front wheel up coming out of a corner the other day...lol

A tweaked turbo FXR...last time I measured her she was just shy of 110 at the back wheel; lord knows whats there now that I have a fully repaired turbo and nearly finished tune.

Just don't skimp on tyres guys, there isn't much there between us and the road so what there is, make sure it's good

It's not so much a money decision...it's more about what suits my riding style and bike power. The Metz 880 units have been good, but I hear good things about the Night Dragons and Shinko 777 units. I'm cool trying out tyres as that's how I came across the Metz.

Last two sets have been Night Dragons, don't last as long as the stock dunlops which aren't a bad tyre, but the night Dragons definitly stick better, especially in the wet.

Just researched the Nigh Dragons and they do not come in the right size for the rear!

I run a Metz 140/90 and the Night Dragons only come in 130/90. Not too sure that I want to go back to a super narrow rear - bugger.

Decision is made - I'm going with the Night Dragon 130/90-16 (apparently they are a little wider than what they state so it may be close to 140 anyway)

    Why these tyres?
    - Price is good ($205 fitted and balanced; maybe less for cash - providing I bring them the rim)
    - Location, the shop is on the route I go to pick up the kid from school so on the way to school I drop the wheel off and pick it up on the way home - perfect.

First time running these (rear for now as my current rear is totally bald!) so will post up a review in the Review Section of the forum once I get some mileage under my belt.
