Well here we go again! I just typed this info in and pushed the wrong key!
2012 streetglide about to receive 107/10.5:1 nikasil kit( flat tops), fullsac pipe, vance/Hines big rounds, SE cnc heads, SE ac , SERT , s&s lifters, andrews ally push rods, 4 degree adv/ retard sprocket( optional) .
Cam selection criteria - well it's a tourer so torque is to the left. Do I like to smoke the back end? Well! If I have to!,,
I have checked out Tman , woods, andrews, s&s and redshift.
Has anyone used the crane htc 302 2 ? I like the Tman 600, 555. The andrews 54 has a great reputation too( is comp a problem?)
Strike all those cams at 10.5:1 in a tourer. Personally I would look at lowering the comp' If not, look at Tman 625 or 590, Andrews 55, Woods 777 / 888 ( all depending on available valve lift of the heads)
Well I have some great advice from Dom/ protech PortvMacquarie. He has some proven formulae especially from Tman performance. So the 590s may be the go, however Tman now has a very attractive 577 cam set.
Sounds like a very clever man that Dom !
Well! Tman 577 cam set it is. These are the same as the 660sm with less lift. Was going with 590s but ol mate on the east coast hasn't come good and spring is here. These cams are highly recommended by Tom at Tman for 103 - 110 up to 10.5:1 comp. 38 overlap.
Well, here we are! 2014 and I finally got my bike back.
the build : SE heads, 10.5:1 nikasil kit , fullsac pipe with monster rounds / baffles open 20 mm dia., SERT , Tman 577 cam set, 4 degree advance , baisleys spring and PR valve , zippers chain tensioner, 31 tooth front pulley.
So I am putting some K,s down and then the dyno tune.
Different thought on how to ring seal a nikasil kit. I chose the long way.
BUT, reversion on the intake side is a pain in the arse. Possibly the cam set. So many different versions available. It's a bit confusing.
One thing though, this SG wants to go!!!!! But between 2000 / 3000 rpm it is not happy. Hopefully the dyno experience may change things?
Your comments will be appreciated.
Yes, I did want the 590 , and was hoping to get one from the east coast. This did not eventuate, so rang Tom Reiser directly and with my build he recommended the 577. This cam spec is identical to the 660sm but with less lift. All in all, it suited my needs on paper, but we considered the degree wheel to bring the torque further to the left. In hindsight possibly the Tm600 or even the crane htc302 may have been better. Truth is, I will probably never find out.
Received an email fromTom at Tman early this morning, assuring me te 577 has no rice ability problems and is well suited to my compression and my riding needs. We discussed the reversion and he is quite sure the proper tune will. Sort me out. He is always available on phone.
