Help Please, mechanical problem?

Well looking at the clutch would be a good place to start. I'd look for anything obvious, check the oil (see if it has enough at least) and adjust the clutch before doing anything too drastic.  After that look for metal, maybe a fucked bearing...at least that's what I'd do.

**Edit, and I wouldn't ride it until I'd done all that...  My money's on the bearing.***

As always with bikes and cars one complaint can have multiple possible answers... But about three months ago a mate had pretty much the same complaint as you (he called it, screeching, or clunking, or grinding) and that was a bearing.

If battery is low the starter may not disengage this might be the clicking in the starter before she starts too?

Fucking electrical problems are worse to guess than mechanical. Relays are a cheap place to start - I usually keep a spare at home anyway. Clicking is usually a sign of poor power - so also check for loose/worn connections starter and battery. I have little idea when it comes to this shit (last time I wanted to shoot my bike) but I've got some more clued in friends that talked about voltage testing (draw testing?) and all kinds of shit...

Personally I'd start with the cheapest, which is to look for fucked connections.

what the other boys have said probley a relay/ short from what you have described take the exciter wire of the starter that's the small push in wire then turn your ignition on if it still tries to start problem is in the stater solenoid area if it does not ,start looking at wiring/relays starter button area

So it could be several things:
    - The starter switch on your handlebar is buggered and thinks its being pressed.
    - The Starter relay is buggered and 'locked' into start mode.
    - The copper disk in the Solinoid has 'welded' or stuck to its main contactor plate and will not release (a good gentle tap from a hammer over the solinoid may fix this)
    - The Starter gear has somehow become locked in the start position (this is located in the primary cases) this could explain the grinding and the constant starting.
    Just some thoughts.
Step 1 - disconnect the battery or you will loose some fingers....lol

Good result...it may pay to dump the primary case oil and check for bits of metal just to make sure things are okay there.
