Has anyone had a Avon  cobra 200 that's not 200 wide? After doing my rear conversion and buying what I thought were the best suited tyres around I've had a couple of people confirm what I thought . That the rear isn't much bigger than before  the conversion. After comparing them visually with mates softails ( 07 up) with the dunslops,my cobra looks ......well ....flaccid is the best word for it

i measured it today from both outer most points on the tyre and it was 180 not 200 as moulded on the sidewall.

just a note. I bought these off eBay brand new 23/130 front and 18/200 rear I'm sure the seller was in aust ( yes I'm aware of the dot stuff with American tyres) but ill have to ccheck 

i know that there differences in sizing brand to brand but I thought they were marginal ( max 5 mm??) looks like I'm wrong...........

i would have gone metzlers except they didn't make a 23 front at the time I was looking.

any suggestions????

 EDIT : is it due to the mates dunlop being a 17 ' and mine being a 18' thats making it look "taller" ( still doesnt answer the question of physical measurements being smaller than stated on sidewall)

Avon on my 5-1/2" rim was about 195mm but the metzler ME880 is the full 200

No 5-1/2" to 6" rims are recommended rim sizes, and like i said, the Metzeler is the full 200mm wide.

Avons are known to be narrower, I've seen plenty of comments on them on US sites.

It's not a big issue really, if your worried that your going to have clearance issuers run the Avon if not run the Metz,

Metz even have a 210 which I might go to one day

What size rim are you running? I didnt see where you said...

A 200 shouldn't measure 180, should be around the 195 a 205mm mark

If you think you have a "mushroom" problem there's no point going wider.
I just don't understand how a 200 on your 5.5" rim is only measuring 180.
Come to think of it, my Avon was a Venom not a Cobra ?
