I need help. Belt deflection, I've got the tool and read the manual. On the ground, on the jiffy stand and cold. The bottom of the belt sits below the window in the plastic belt guard. Push up 10 pounds of force with the tool and it goes into the window up three marks to the bottom of the belt. My overall deflection is around 20mm, however in the window it's around 10mm. What is the correct measurement? 20mm overall or in the window 10 mm. I've only just started servicing my own bike and its beginning to do my head in. Someone please give me the correct procedure.
Hi,
there is table which tells you how much it should be when on jiffy stand and what increments the notches are on the debris deflector, it's in the manual
many do believe the rating in the manual makes it too tight so if you on the outer range or bit over generally okay, just make sure belt not real loose, it tightens as bike runs
Harley's are built like John Deere Tractors but gotta service them like a space shuttle hehehehehehehehe
thanks
