Today I almost lost my l/h side battery cover. I stopped at a set of lights & felt it up against the inside of my left leg just hanging on by the lower hook tab. Good job it did not come loose 15 min earlier when I was doing 100kph out on the open road or else I would be looking for a new one.

So are there any good & of course easy tricks out there for attaching them with a safety wire or anything????

HD had a recall on the Clips about 4 years ago, I have cable tie on the bottom slot of mine just in case

+1 on the zip tie top left as you look at it.

 Yeah that may be the way I will go. 

Wonder if thats why they make em black on most models, so that it is easy to sell replacements.
