Hi can anybody tell me the reason why petrol and some oil is coming out of my oil breather. 90 softail evolution.Bike was sitting there for a bit warmed it up last week with no probs noticed yesterday that there was a big stain under the bike. Tried starting it today stoped after noticing perol and oil pumping out of breather.. Cheers
welcome starcrusin if you have look down a few threads you will see other posts its wet sumping nothing to over stress about at this stage (by monrofan)
I have had this a couple of times, (small puddle of fuel/oil) usually if I havnt turned the fuel tap off. If I turn fuel off doesnt happen
This might not be "wet sump". I have an iron barrel sporty that occasionally "floods" fuel through an open inlet valve into the bore past the rings and literally fills the sump with fuel. Worst case is a hydraulic lock of the motor. Best case it pours fuel/oil mix out the breather when you urn it over.
Right or wrong, I have removed the oil filter and plugs and just keep pouring oil in the top and let it pump out the bottom whilst turning the motor over until it runs clean with no smell of fuel in it.
