Rubber Burnt Onto Exhaust

    Hello again

Had my first ride today on my new FXST and loved it. Except I made the mistake of touching the V&H Big Radius with the back of my glove and now I have burnt rubber marks on the pipes

I'm worried about damaging the chrome removing it so does anyone have an answer to this issue? I'd really appreciate it.
    Thanks

Hey mate, just get some brite shine and rub on it, don't worry too much, it will come off pretty easy. Just wipe off with a clean rag after.

Will those polishes dissolve the rubber or just polish it off?

Harley actually make a boot stain remover for just this very thing .... and it works very well .

All of the above , white spirits or metho is another great chrome cleaner , or if ya not to fussy just carefully use a razor blade then polish it .

Start with patience...... then some kero

Works better if the pipes are hot

On a similar vein, here's a little tip for the curious (learned from experience).

Don't rub your finger over the front brake disc to feel how smooth it is or isn't, right after returning home from a ride.....

Burnt flesh isn't too hard to remove from the disc....but that's not really the point!!

Eucolyptus oil or oil of clove will remove it.

    Hi mate,

Go to Bunnings and ask for "Goo Off". It will disolve the rubber and clean the pipes, no fuss!

Thanks all, I went to Harley Davidson store today and bought a special bottle of stuff to clean it. Works OK but more work needed.

You just let it get cold and run a razor blade flat at a small angle to the pipes and scrape it all off. Leaves no scratches takes off melted rubber, plastic or anything else.
