You do rely on other people having the Tile App also but its pretty clever.

Interesting idea, are they still looking for backers for this product.

 

 Not as far as I am aware. It looks to be in production mode now.

Problems with this as I understand it are that it uses bluetooth to transmit it's location, which obviously limits the range to not very much (10 meters or so), and it's internal battery lasts 12 months or so, then the whole unit needs replacing, and there's no support for Android or Windows phones so as long as you have one of those iCrap phones you're good....

Definitely could be used to ID your bike, but with limitations.... I think they are more a device for finding those keys you put down and now can't find, that sort of thing...
