Trouble removing riser bolts 09 Road King

    Hi guys, me 09 Road King Classic doesn't have a stock handlebar set up. The previous owner had some 4 or 6in risers installed with the stock bars mounted on top. I have recently purchased some 16in apes along with having to purchase the stock riser and bar clamp plus the top housing/shroud etc.

    I have removed headlight and all necessary covers and went to remove the riser bolts but for the life of me can't seem to get a spanner to sit flush due to the bolts facing sort of upwards hitting the top tree  and there being a plate directly under the bolt so I can't get a socket onto it and because it doesn't sit flush it had started to round off the bolt so I stopped immediately.

    Anyone come across this problem before or have any ideas?

    Nup, haven't come across this before,,,

    But FWIW, my thoughts are;

    1. I reclon you've tried lock to lock to see if ya can access the bolt heads.

    2. Is it possible to remove the bars and turn the risers off while holding the bolt head with an open ender.

    3. maybe the top tree has to come off so you can get to them with a ring spanner or socket.

    4. Explosives.

    Upon further investigation apparently all I need to do is turn the steering full lock one way to get to one bolt and vice versa to get to the other one. Doing this apparently allows me to get a socket underneath. Learn something new every day! I'll test it when I get home this arvo.

    Thanks for the help guys. It was much easier with me old Dyna!

    Sorry rider, it's as you said under point 1 in your post. Tried it and it allows you to get a socket in there.
