Grabbed a  Willie G Fuel Cap Medallion last week and went to put it on on the weekend but it just doesn’t look right.

It has 3m adhesive underneath for sticking onto the original cap, but the medallion has a larger diameter and does not appear to have the same concave contour to match or  seal onto the cap tightly.

 

Am i missing something? Are they meant to be like this and just sit on top of the original cal with not much contact?

What part number? Looks like there are two parts available, one specifically for the XL1200C/1200L? Have you got the right one?

Part number is 99669-04, but on the back of package it says fits 04 later xl 883 and 1200C models.

GMA catalogue description for Diamond Ice fuel cap says "XL Custom & XL1200L models with the large fuel cap".
Goin by the descriptions below from GMA catalogue I would've bought 99670-04.
