I wonder how they'll protect them from tampering and vandalism given the height is low? Unless they're of the view that people won't know where they're located, which would be naive.

They will last 5 minutes once a few cranky people know where they are. LOL!!

Even the ones in Canberra high up on a pole have been targeted a few times. I remember one guy backed a truck over one from memory.

We also have in Victoria these types of Speed Cameras.

Their getting very cunning, do they also post a sign to state there is a speed camera on that part of the road.

If they don't put a warning sign up there will be alot of people loosing their license for speeding as most drivers dont stick to the speed limit.

These days I sit on the speed limit and the amount of impatient drivers that tailgate you is crazy, I just go slower :-)

Pictures of a supposed new type of covert speed camera being tested in the UK is spreading through Facebook and email.

The picture of the 'camera' which is installed into the central barrier/armco is accompanied by a variety of information such as the claim that it is being trialled on the A52 in Nottingham and on the A1 in Lincolnshire.

The claims are entirely false. The images have been lifted from a Swiss Police PowerPoint presentation where this device is being trialled. The device is NOT a speed camera, it is a speed measurement instrument and it is deployed in conjunction with the standard speed camera on a pole.

It IS NOT a new form of covert speed camera and IT IS NOT being tested in the UK. Please spread the word to correct the misinformation being passed around.
