    Welshpool DoT Inspection time.

So I rang up yesterday expecting a few weeks wait, but got in the following morning 7:30

Late night last night going over everything.

The inspector didn’t blink at the direct push Tech Cycles starter setup.

But did test Lumens of low beam light!

Took it for a spin round the block. Coming to terms with the right-hand shift!

Came in with a failing look on his face.... Said” I’m goana have to do a noise test on it”

    Shit!

In the car park with a hand held meter at 3000 rpm. (Bikes dated pre Feb-1985 have a limit of 100dB)..... It measured 99.4 dB. Woot

Discussion & clarifications continued on some other minor points like steering lock, requirement for indicators. Etc.

    Away he went.

    Came back... Passed!

Watch out WA Roads. Another Ironhead will be out leaving fine trails of Straight 50w all over you.

     Yeehaw!

    Good luck TJU

Couple of small jobs to do now registered:

    - Replace the old rusty air horn with something lighter and away from the cylinders I have a compact electric thing I'll fit for now. Probably back behind the battery.
    - Swap out front brake line. Left the original spongy rubber/pipe mixty thing on for compliance reasons. I have a ss braided barnet number I picked up in the US that will hopefully help slightly
    - New throttle cable
    - Hand twist Idle mixture screw to fit on the ol Keihin butterfly
    - Have a play with some bars I’ve got. Just waiting on some fast biltwell oxblood grips before I try and pry the 40yo old ones off for re-use.

I find myself quite paranoid about the top end noise on this thing. 20w50 sounds quite compared to straight SAE 50. Prob just need to warm it up. Am thinking about fitting a rocker cover oil pressure gauge short term till I get to know her better.
