    hello guys,

    my rk2011 is almost 2 years now, got a letter from harley aftersales warranty asking if i want to extend my warranty: 1yr - $670, 2yrs - $1,155, 3yrs - $1,710.

considering that i've had 2 oil leaks, one of which was at the base of the rear cillinder, fixed up nicely and without any dramas by my dealer.... what to do?

other than that, my twinkie runs smooth and solid, done nearly 12,000km.

    input please!!!

    cheers

    m

Don't forget even if HD tells you your warranty has expired, you still have consumers rights.
eg. say for example you do a rear wheel bearing around 28months, consumer law still says your covered.

very grey area here, i understand what you guys are saying, but having to go through all the legals to obtain a repair under the consumer law or dept of fair trading....

one can only hope it would not have a major repair within the 5-7years, i guess that would be reasonable to expect from a $35,000 bike, but it proves every day that your hopes are different to reality.

i mean, to have an oil gasket blown under normal ridding after 1,5 years is not to be expected. and the cost of such repair is easy around $1,000 mark.

i have to get the extended warranty brochure to see exactly what is covering, bummer, they do not send it to you with the letter

    appreciate your thoughts.

When you spend 35 Grand on something I can understand wanting to go the Fair Trading route.
When you spend $400 on something and it comes with 2 years Guarantee and then after another year or so you have problems with the item and go the Fair Tradings way, I think your a prick.
Luckily for the Retailers the Onus is on the importer now but in these hard times this can fuck the importer up badly.
In my Business I have seen a lot of Retailers go to the wall and a lot of importers as well or come close. These are also Jobs lost of course and Tax payers lost.
People tell me "I go online to buy my stuff." Fine, but I bet you do a little "Window Shopping" before you buy the thing.
A lot of people Research Through Retail before they go online. One day, it might be online only.No more Research, good luck on your buy.
The fucking Media goes on about haggling etc.How many shops have closed in your local Shopping Centre.
I use to work in one and it had a great Variety, when I left it was mainly Clothe Stores.
MacQuarie Centre Sydney. Pardon for the Rambling.

I hope to never need it.
But I paid $2500 for a 5 year cover on my car.
