So I decided to give this a go so I could put the money towards air shocks.

Has taken around 3 hours to get this far

3 hours! Wow!! But the result is looking good.

If you had access to a bench grinder with a couple of Rag and Cloth wheels, you could knock it over in about 2 hours for the whole lot. It does mean removing them from the bike, but, in my opinion, is much easier. No ripper stripper, just the wheels and polish compound. :)

They're a pain in the arse when it comes to posting pics. I've given up posting pics on here with my iPhone and iPad. If I need to post a pic I use my laptop

Hi hoges1974, nice job, what did you use to get it to this standard, was it done by hand or did you use a grinder/polisher. Would like to do it to my 2012 RK, but not sure what to use?

Tip go right thru to 2000grit paper takes some of the polishing work out of it.

Shit mate you do have a lot of perseverance, it looks great but I don't know now if I want to go through what you did, thank you for such a detailed step by step guide.

Yeah Rosscoe , moral to the story is to leave ya 2012 model legs alone for as long as ya can or until they're fucked beyond looks and then hit em , otherwise you'll forever be fuckin with em , besides the fact they come up alright for a while it is time consuming and disappointing when they revert back to lookin old and pitted again , it's why they're now protective coated from new , being the nature of the beast sorta problem or natural road wear that it is , its only something I'd do once they were showing well earned pitting (as Bahl' were for a prime example) or by that stage even replace them with new legs or go a chrome set which will also mark up over time 'or worse as well , having ya freshly polished up set re'coated may be another avenue but in my personal opinion , as ugly as it can get , it really is just un'avoidable 'well earned road wear hey ?
