     Hi crew
    I have a 2008 cvo fxdse2
    With the following engine mods

Screamin Eagle CNC MVA ported heads
    50MM Throttle Body
    255 CAMS
    High Compression Pistons
    Fuelling Lifters
    Adjustable Push Rods
Thundermax Auto Tune - Adjustable EFI Upgrade
    Screamin Eagle Head Gasket’s
    Timken Inner Cam Bearings
    Roller Rockers
    Electric Decompressors

I purchased it like this. But doesn't seem to run right
Does anybody have any ideas or advice please

     What cam do u recommend?

How do I find out the compression?

It's hard to start and coughs out of the air intake and miss fires when changing down in gears.

Always had the problem starting it.

The tuner actually died a week after getting it. But the dealer replaced it with another.

I have read a lot of forums about the mva heads and most say they are not suited to the 255 cam.

The dealer had his mechanic tune the bike.

I will get hammered for saying this but
    Good old thundermax
go get a real good tune done on it if you can find a tuner happy to work with the thundermax

you could check the firmware update also.

Just found some updates for the mates last week and it gave him back his distance to empty function, although it not worth fuck all saying he has 860km's to empty. didn't improve the tuning either

I got it from an importer.

My local Harley dealer will not work on it because it has been imported

i guess I'm concerned with the overall setup. Thinking I need bigger cams for a start

I can help ya sort it out, no problems.
Do you still have the factory ECU for it.
    I'm in Mandurah.

@ carbon ffibre no I don't have the stock ecu. It came with a thundermax that died. Was then replaced with the same thundermax and tune

Where would I find a stock ecu.

Think I might just take it straight to a mechanic to get it tuned and dynoed. Any recommendations in the Perth area?

     Cheers davo

the miss firing doesn't happen all the time.

Do u think 259 cams would be more suited to this overall setup?

also do you know how much replacing the starter clutch would cost? That is another thing that has just starting playing up

the starter maybe related to the bad tune setup. Mate has 2088 SECVO with thundermax and some days it is a real piece of shit, wont start runs like crap other days it is fantastic.
I can't work it out but some of the guys on here are ThunderMax fans and may be able to help you out. Maybe try posting a question in the EFI tuning section.

I doubt your cams are the problem other than the tune isn't right for them.
Look around for a good dyno tunner in your area and discuss it with him.

I'VE HEARD AROUND THE TRAPS THAT PERTH HD " WILL" NOW WORK ON "GREY IMPORTS " !

I met a dude with a recently imported Crossbones and they had sold him V&H drainpipes , a Heavy breather air intake and a SEPST race tuner ( $2k FFsake !)

If they'll sell you a new ECM that's gunna sting some mate. If they won't then Peter Stevens in the east sure will , they are on the forum !

Plus you'll also need stock OEM O-2 sensors. Buying a used ECM is prolly a bad idea

It's prolly the " mis-match " of parts PLUS the Thundermax unit .

Who did you buy it from and how do you "know" the level of tune in an import ? If it "don't run right" and they sold you it that way IT IS DOWN TO THEM !!

I have an imported CVO and it goes really well , but it's mostly stock other than V&H Big Shot Staggered. I KNOW it was a one owner 6,300 mile bike from Texas

Now well TTS tuned it flies ! Better than I thought it would be actually !

Like Carbon Fibre ( new moniker there methinks ?) I could help you if it's running the OEM ECM and O2 sensors but can't help with Thundermax

Kuryakyn have umpteen "MAPS" or more corectly " calibrations" for all sorts of modded 110 cube CVO variants, they'll be a great start to tuning .

PS THE 255 CAMS ARE STOCK MATE

PPS another poster mentioned checking the auto decompressors. That's a good call

These have to be switched ON or OFF in the start menu of a new calibration. If they are off you'll get a " hard start " especially with high comp pistons

I'm in the northern suburbs of Perth by the way , and saw one of those 2008 Anniversary 105th CVO Dynas on the coast road at Sorrento just last Sunday , riding with a group ?
