They will give you as least as possible.
A Mate not long ago traded his 07, Fat Boy in on a Road King, He had aprox 17500km of the FB. He went up to Northcoast V-Twins at Coffs Harbour as been known for decent changeovers. He received $21g for his FB on the Road King. I also heard good change overs at Sy's Campbelltown. The other Main player in Sydney, forget it. What about a FXST, they are Ok.

I hate to be the first to tell you this mate BUT since you bought your bike new in late 2008 or eraly 2009 , the second hand Harley market has changed forever in Australia

The reason ? The flood of " grey imports " into the country since you bought your bike.

Some HD dealers have their own import arm of the business bringing in used Harleys for sale , and some don't deal in imports AT ALL .

New bike prices also came down approx' $4K Australian , due as much to the continued for 2+ years strong Aussie dollar

A " perfect storm " scenario for the downtrend value of your 2008/2009/2010 bought new in Oz Harleys.

I know , I just sold my one owner " Aussie from new " mint 2008 Anniversary FXSTC Softail Custom

I've had several previous new Harleys here in Perth , and in selling that last Softail Custom 8 weeks ago "lost" more money than ALL of my previous Harleys combined !!

The flipside ( for me ) , I now own an imported 2008 CVO Softail Springer , which was/would have been $58K + here in Oz in 2008

My bike is costing me a FRACTION of that FFsake so I'm " well ahead " in one sense

Hopefully it works out for you mate , best of luck with it

Hard to sell it private. If they offer you a $5000-$6000 changeover, take it.

As mentioned above. The rush to import bikes over the last year or two will create a glut of 06-2010 model bikes that will always hold their prices down. The dollar is dropping and imports will drop also. This means your 2012 bikes on will have less imports mixed in. This may help their values. But the poor owners of 06-2010 bikes( myself included) you will forever be competing against same age imports.

    Cheers
