G'Day guys. A quick question. How do you get a valuation on a bike these days. You used to be able to go to Redbook and automatically see values based on condition, K's, etc etc. Whats the go now?

    Cheers

Bikesales and the like will give you a rough idea but this is just the asking price. look for bikes that dissapear quickly. take some money off their last asking price and you might be close.
Auction sites like shannons. this is very good in that you see what people "think" their muscle car is worth on carsales but you see what they "actually" sell for on shannons.
Insurance value isnt worth a pinch of shit. Long time ago you struggled to get things insured for their true value but insurance companies have wised up to this now and let you insure for more with a higher premium of course. they did the maths and its in their favour to insure above true value.
So that harley insured for $30,000 does not mean its worth that.

With all the sites you look at - ebay bikesales, gumtree etc - you need to see if the bikes sells too, since a lot of people try to get too much and never sell.

Yeah getting an 'online opinion through Redbook and the like is no longer a free service and I think will cost you about $10 or more these days , best to hit the dealers for an appraisal and have a look around at several dealers to see what they are flogging 'similar for , before coming to a reasonable expectation for your offering , if its overpriced it won't move or you will only be relying on someone making an emotional purchase at best , ultimately it is worth , what you can get for it hey ?

Look on ebay for relevant models in closed listings to see what they have actually sold for rather than current listings with asking price.

ring most insurance company's and they will tell what its worth to insure for valuation purposes and they will also take into account any extra's on the bike i.e chrome bling ect and add this to the valuation but don't confuse that there with market selling price as it will vary from retail, trade, private .

See it now , last time I looked at the redbook site it didn't have my specific model listed or any pricings for it but see there is now , why would ya pay $16.50 for a Valuation Cirtificate if ya could just print that out for free , what do you's reckon an 1584cc '09 FLHRC price guide says $31,350 , trade price $17,200 - $20,400 or private $23k - $27,300 , sounds about right I guess depending on Km's , overall condition and extras ?
I sorta figured , just looking around , that in todays market my '09 roadie classic would be worth around $24k or there abouts ?
Not that id sell her , was just wondering what they are with these days with the recent influx of imports ?
